#TheDarkKnightRises is easily the most imperfect of Nolan's epic trilogy, but it remains gobsmackingly ambitious. Its reach may exceed its grasp, and it may, as a result, stumble where it might have strutted by compromising its aim, but in a cinematic universe in which mediocrity is the new excellence, and abject rubbish touted as art, we could all do with a lot more imperfection like this.
