"TheCabinInTheWoods is that rarest of cinematic gems: A horror film I actually wanted to see. A film oozing as much creativity as blood. A film with a winning cast that surprises on every level. A phantasmagorical balancing act of black viscera and even blacker comedy. A film I "figured out" early on, yet never lost interest in--that's almost never the case (yeah, I'm looking at you #ThePrestige.) A film so bold, so outlandish, and so over-the-top that it nearly gets by on sheer audacity alone. Deliciously co-written by the great Joss Whedon, it takes genre conventions and turns them back upon themselves in a way that would have had Joseph Conrad jumping for joy. #EvilDead, you've been lonely at the top long enough.
