Long Tebow post:
The Broncos gave up an average of 28 ppg in the five games Orton started, including 22 points in the one game Orton started that Denver won (against the playoff-bound Bengals). The lowest opposing score was 17!
Now, compare that to Tebow's starts. Even INCLUDING the HUGE blowouts in Tebow's starts, the defense gave up an average of 22 ppg. That's six points different! Throwing out ALL of the blowouts (the one against the Packers [49-23] that Orton was a starter in, and the THREE with Tebow starting, with the Lions [45-10], Patriots [41-23], and Bills [40-14]) and the Broncos averaged 15.5 ppg allowed with Tebow starting and 18.2 with Orton starting.
Why?
The regular-season teams that the Broncos beat with Tebow at the helm have a combined record of 48-64, and NONE OF THEM have a winning record. Not one team.
The combined record of the teams the Broncos faced when Orton was starting?
49-31, and NOT ONE TEAM has a losing record. Not one. The team the Broncos beat with Orton starting was the Bengals (9-7).
So what makes anyone think that the Broncos wouldn't have AT LEAST won the SAME seven games with Orton starting as they did with Tebow starting?
And I'll take that a step farther and state that with Orton starting, I believe the Broncos would've won the last game against the Chiefs (duh), and would've stood a good chance at beating Buffalo, too.
So, the Broncos, with Orton, would've been AT LEAST 8-8, and more than likely 9-7 or 10-6 with Orton starting.
And turning the attention to the Denver Offense, Denver averaged 21 ppg with Orton starting.
With Tebow?
18.5 ppg
Last time I checked, 21 is better than 18.5, and since Tebow doesn't play Defense, it seems like Denver would've been BETTER OFF without Tim Tebow starting.
Until this last game (where the Steelers were missing their starting Safety, HB, and Big Ben was hurt), the only game the Broncos had won this season against a team with a winning record was won with Kyle Orton starting.
And, not for nothing, we got to see the two QBs face off just eight days ago, and I'm pretty sure it was obvious who the better QB was, head-to-head, so this whole argument is kind of moot.
And finally, the "Tebow won the AFC West" thing is nonsense. They lost the last three games of the season, and should've been four if Marion Barber wasn't a borderline retard. The Broncos made the playoffs because the Raiders and Chargers were just a little bit worse this year than the Broncos were.
