Dum Laga Ke Haisha :
This movie is one more example that how a good and simple script can do miracles. The movie is a story of mismatched couple where the good for nothing guy gets married to overweight girl against his wish, how the differences comes between their relationship and how they come closer after all their differences in the end. Plot sounds serious but it isn't. The movie is simple and light hearted comedy drama set in 1995 in the city of Haridwar. The movie is simple in every sense, right from showing how lower middle class family functions to what is relevant in their daily life. The costumes, the audio cassettes, and some songs from that time takes you there. The accent in language, the detailing in every scene, the music and background score makes you feel story more real and takes you closer to each character. Ayushman easily slides into the character and delivers very good performance but it's the debutant Bhumi Pednekar who deserves round of applause for giving such a performance in her very first film. She acts like living the character. And its a good decision by the director for not taking well known actress and transforming her into a overweight by using prosthetics. Other actors not only supports the film but provides genuine laughs into the scenes. Its the simplicity of the film which wins your heart and dialogues written for the scenes. I give 3 stars for this film with extra half star for the Bhumi Pednekar. Go and enjoy this rom-com which takes you to the simpler times of 90's and will make you nostalgic. And my most favorite part of the movie is the end credit songs which is shot in 90's style.
