C9W 🤍

As of November 23rd, my contract with Cloud9 has ended. Simply put, my contract term ran its course and my teammates and I have decided to explore new opportunities. When the partnered league was announced, Jack offered to work with me in building a top co-ed roster for Ascension. C9W would have continued to exist, but this additional team would be built for those of us looking to take on a new challenge in our careers. Unfortunately, this plan became impossible when it was announced “academy” teams would not be allowed for partnered orgs. Regardless, Jack and management did give us the chance to re-sign and continue C9W. I’d like to clarify (for C9’s sake) we were not “dropped” by the org.

I’d like to give the sincerest and most heartfelt thanks to Cloud9 for the past 2 years.

To Jack and Gaylen: I will be forever grateful for my first professional opportunity in VALORANT and everything you’ve done to support me. Without your trust in my teammates and me two years ago, we would never have made it to where we are today as pros. The two of you were so influential in laying a foundation for women and other marginalized genders that is being followed by so many other teams in Game Changers today. I hope you both receive the credit you deserve for building something truly meaningful in the esports space, and I hope you’re proud of the growth I made as a player and leader with Cloud9 White.

Thanks to Noukky, Lindsey, Dream, Moon, Vapen, and Vexel: Our competitive success speaks for itself and each of you played a massive role in helping us along the way. I’m truly thankful to have had a chance to work with all of you.

To the C9W fans: Thanks for your support and encouragement through it all – especially to the OGs who have been with us since MAJKL. Your support has made the lowest times bearable, and the highest highs feel like heaven.

To my teammates: Annie, Kat, Bob, Alexis, and Jazzyk1ns, it's hard for me to find the words that can describe the sisterhood and bond we shared. It is something so few get to experience. 2 years ago, we all came from nothing- led only by our shared vision of becoming the best and to one day compete at the highest level, regardless of gender and what standards had been set before us. To think how far we've come- from MAJKL, to now.. It has been an incredible journey that I will forever cherish and be honored to have been a part of. You all changed the course of my life- I genuinely don't know who and where I would be without this team. From being a F/A team of girls with a dream, to getting signed to our first organization Cloud9, to winning 7x GC tournaments in a row, to every single co-ed accomplishment and upset, to competing internationally together for the first time, to every little moment spent with each other in person- I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. We shared the weight of the world with each other, and underneath that pressure we only grew stronger. I wouldn't be the player and leader I am today without you all. We have shown the world what we are capable of and, through that, the real potential of women one day competing at the T1 level (a day that will come very soon, I am sure). I look back on the mark we've made on the scene and the legacy we built with pride. Meeting you all has given me a real path to achieve my dreams, and for that, I cannot thank everyone enough. Thank you, for everything.

I can’t wait for what comes next. Until then, I hope everyone has a nice holiday season.
Love, meL
