Hey, I wanted to make a statement and not make any excuses about this.

I was pretty ignorant in 2017, I listened to the wrong voices. I'm also a very insulated person and so to me inquiring about the "rules" seemed perfectly reasonable. I have never actually used (and would never use) the N word in real life, at the time I thought writing the abbreviated version in a conversation about it was acceptable. Does my ignorance make it okay? Absolutely not, and ahead of all this I have already reached out to and apologized to both people in that conversation privately. I have also taken the time to seek advice/forgiveness from Black friends.
