@DayZ

First and foremost, I don't want this to come across as hate. But merely me expressing my thoughts and concerns with regards to modding and the modding scene (I know other modders have concerns, but don't want to speak up about this).

Firstly, we were told that Q1 of 2019 was suppose to be focused on modding but we haven't received much, yes, i know these things take time but we're being criticised for doing stuff "badly" without any help/documentation/samples, etc. We have had to teach ourselves everything about this modding API, so obviously, things are going to be done incorrectly/badly. We have a modders Discord that 9 BI Employees are in, we get most of our help from Sumrak, but of course, anything he doesn't know about, he has to ask about and it's unfair on him. I'm not asking for all of the DayZ team to join said Discord, but even to get some help from people in their respective fields is more than enough for us.

Additionally, we have a channel in the Discord dedicated towards issues regarding modding, yet I see that NONE of them are fixed (and yes, we have reported 90% of them to the feedback tracker, some of which haven't even been assigned yet). I'm completely baffled, as is a lot of the modding community. We try to make things for your game, but in doing so, we're just wishing we didn't. We love the game, we love modding for the game but its becoming rather hard and limited in all honesty.

On top of all of this, ANYONE (except Sumrak) who previously talked in the Discord has gone completely radio silent, Eugen specifically said that Q1 was focused on modding, but when trying to make contact with him, we get no reply whatsoever. I understand he's a busy guy, but we've been waiting a month+ for a reply regarding it (for context: https://i.imgur.com/U31SBI2.png )

Second, we were told that a roadmap was to be released so we can see what was focused on, but that hasn't happened. I understand that you guys want to keep everything internal, but why say you're going to release it just to ignore requests regarding it? I don't want to get on the bad side of you guys whatsoever, I just simply want to understand what is going on. Why say things but don't back them? I've never really experienced the "false promises and lies" part of this team, but I'm starting to see where people are coming from. We're all losing hope for this game, but we don't want to.

Regarding the latest update, there is a lot of false information in there which us, as modders, are truly confused and angry about. More specifically this statement:

"Updating a moddable game and its platform is not without risks. We use various methods to communicate upcoming changes to our awesome modding community. We also co-operate directly on troubleshooting, and we offer an opportunity to test updates via our Release Candidate tests. Modders, server administrators and other members of the community do their best to prepare for updates and to address issues post-release as quickly as possible. Please be mindful of some interruptions (especially in the first hours / days after a release) while we all work to improve the game together."

This whole thing is practically a lie:

"We use various methods to communicate upcoming changes to our awesome modding community." - as previously stated. The main person helping us out, and asking questions with the internal team is @Sumrak. I can't thank him enough for all the help.

"and we offer an opportunity to test updates via our Release Candidate tests" - I could be getting the wrong end of the stick with this, but a BI Employee has NEVER once offered to help test a mod, etc.

There are other things wrong with that statement, too but I think i've gotten my point across.

Once again, I don't want to get on the wrong side of the DayZ team, i'm just simply expressing concerns. If you want to contact me about anything, please do so on Discord at Thurston#3469

Regards,
Thurston
