Evil Avnovice vs. ClonedVader: Matchup Thoughts

Unexpectedly, I was able to get another runback with ClonedVader, but only after he remade the room after having it public.

I was eager (outside of a smaller bout last week) to see if I could proper apply some new strategies I had been saving.

And the answer was "No".

In addition to playing very poorly from the beginning, ClonedVader already had counters in place for MY counters.

*After his B+C 2A, I would back dash; only for him to chase after me with 66B/C or assaults. Some times I got away, others I got clipped.

*I was too antsy with my approaches, so I still got outzoned most of the time. The nice thing about this, is that I got a better timing for his projectiles and levitation attempts.

*I was able to get around said levitation with Fallen Pain and 5[C], but I left myself open for him to come down on top of me.

We talked about it and he cautioned me to not get to attached to doing it, but I feel that there's something here for me to work with. I think it's a matter of properly spacing myself better and still leaving an advantage for myself.

*Those wall teleports? He checks for those now. ;) And, I may have used them a little too much; they're still effective when I know he's going to commit into actively pursuing me when I'm against the wall.

*My teleports in general were now getting countered with flash kicks. Nothing a simple change or two couldn't fix.

*I didn't get exposed by as many B drill overheads. And know I now it's a 3-hit affair when blocking them.

*At round start, I waited mostly to avoid being hit my any lasers, but my approaches (which ClonedVader pointed out) were repetitive to where he patiently sat there and waited for me to hang myself.

This is where the (my) repetition in my pressure starts to rear its ugly head.

*When he got a punish in, he made me bleed heavily. Still much better than my routes, lol.

This was not my best showing; it's actually really embarrassing. I hope to clean it up for the next session.
