Transitioning to a coaching role and my plans for the future

Today, I am announcing my retirement as a player from the Overwatch scene and the start of my search for a coaching position. Almost 3 years ago, I made the very difficult decision of completely dropping what I was doing at the time and pursuing something that could potentially never pay off and completely fail. I stuck with it and never once thought to look back. My decision to start playing Overwatch was purely out of passion for the game and I have no regrets because of how far I’ve come since the very beginning of my journey. I never even imagined the possibility of making a viable career out of something that was merely a dream of mine since I was a kid. Becoming a pro gamer changed my life in so many ways for the better, and I’m grateful for that and thankful to all the people who have supported me since the very beginning. Season 1 of the Overwatch league was arguably a very tough year for me, but it gave me the time to really think about what I wanted to do in the future. My goal moving forward is to be able to take what I’ve learned over the last 3 years and help like-minded people in the scene who share the same interests and passion as me to achieve their goals. My decision to look into coaching is one that I’ve thought about for a long time now, and perhaps it is exactly the change I need to continue pursuing my esports dream. Thank you to all of my previous and recent teammates for working with me so that we could achieve our goals together. The only reason we were able to do so is because we share the same passion and I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Thank you to all the Overwatch league and team staff members who make things happen behind the scenes so that players have all the tools and resources they need to succeed – your work doesn’t go unnoticed. Finally, thank you to all the fans who have supported me since day one and who continue to support me – esports wouldn’t be possible without you guys.
If any teams are interested in giving me a chance as a coach, please feel free to DM me directly here on twitter, or send me an e-mail at joemeisterow@gmail.com
