Statement to the Adult Performer Community
To the adult performer community:
I would like to apologize to the public for my response to Jenny Blighe’s allegations of misconduct on an Evil Angel set.
As the newly inducted APAC Chairperson, I understand it is my responsibility to hear performer grievances and respond. In this instance, I failed to support. I regret this. I want to rectify this situation, and work to create a safer environment in future.
I am an experienced cam model and activist, but I am new to the world of adult film. With more film set experience, perhaps this situation could have been avoided.
When Jenny Blighe and I shot for Evil Angel, I did not know she felt violated. She seemed to me to be having a good scene, with the exception of the squirting featured in the film.
I tried to address these concerns about the shoot directly with Evil Angel. I did not post publicly, because don’t feel that it is my place to speak to another performers lived experience unless they specifically ask me to.
For my part, I had a positive shoot, and this kept me from seeing her perspective. I acknowledge diversity of experience, and that she felt differently. Her experience and feelings are valid.
Even after the scene, I had trouble reconciling the differences in our experiences. Due to this, I didn’t give her the support she deserved.
In hindsight, I would have handled this situation differently. I have learned a lot since the scene in question, and I will continue to educate myself in order to prevent this from happening again.
This experience has highlighted the need for standardized consent protocol across adult film sets. I will devote myself to that as my first project on the APAC Board.
I love advocacy and want to work to advance sex worker rights, serve my community, etc. Thank you for giving me the chance to help my community.
Thank you,
Ginger Banks
