Larry Dean: Bampot @ Assembly Checkpoint

Comedy Reviewer 7/10

"Bampot" is a lot like his last show "Fandan" – full of insights and confessions with a real emphasis on his home life, his family and his Aussie boyfriend.

Larry finds himself in a much bigger room this year and it hasn't phased him; he actually looks more comfortable than ever. He's still finding his own style but is comfortable with what he has. His delivery and stage presence are great and he commands the stage like an old pro once again, skillfully straying off topic but always pulling it back into line. This skill shows his true class.

"Bampot" is another great show; at times hilariously funny but also emotionally powerful. I would, however, question if it is powerful enough. Sure, it provoked tears from a few around me but I can't help feeling that it could have – and possibly should have – provoked more. I would also question if there was enough new material. Last year's show "Fandan" was brilliant because it was exciting and new, however this year's offering felt as if I had heard it all before.
