SMITE Global Series Updates

The SMITE Global Series has not had the participation numbers and quality of games that we originally had hoped for when making the changes to the international system earlier this year.

We've gathered feedback from players across all regions in the SMITE Global Series and felt they wouldn't have the opportunity to be on the same level of competition as the SMITE Pro League or SMITE Minor League teams under the current format.

Because of this, we're making a number of changes for improved competition and health of the overall international scene.

STRUCTURE
-First, the entire SMITE Global Series is being reworked to remove phases and have all regions compete in a league structure.

-At the end of April, there will be two weeks of SGS League Qualifiers (1 week of open bracket tournaments ; 1 week of group round robin). The top 4 teams from the League Qualifiers will advance into the Summer Split of the SGS League.

-The SGS Summer Split will be 4 teams, double round robin over the course of 6 weeks, all Best of Three's. The top team from each league will qualify for our LAN events throughout the year.

-There will be a relegations held after the Summer Split to encourage teams to place higher in the league as well as new teams having the opportunity to join the league for the Fall Split.

-Prizing per split will be $20,000.00.
--1st Place: $10,000
--2nd Place: $6,000
--3rd Place: $3,000
--4th Place: $1,000

-The Fall Split will be the same format and prizing across all regions and qualify for a Fall LAN with more details to follow on that.

-There will be no relegations in the Fall and we will handle qualification methods for Season 6 in 2019.

BROADCAST
-Broadcasting will remain the same days of the week all ran by Hi-Rez Studios Production team and talent. We will showcase a different match every week where all teams will get airtime at some point during the Split.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ESL will continue to operate the leagues in SEA, LATAM North, LATAM South, OCE and Brazil.

We will be putting out a more details post later this week with exact dates for league qualifiers and split start dates, but they will be held at the end of April.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are still looking at all of our other leagues and gathering feedback and will continue to monitor the SGS moving forward as well to see where we can make changes.
