BBTAG general & Chie stuff


Played around 8 hours total of BBTAG at anime ascension. Got a nice feel for the game pretty quickly. The only thing that was weird for me was no forward walking, (only running) but holding back cancels the run instantly with no recovery, so it honestly isn't a big deal.

General stuff I noticed:
-Can't call an assist or "active switch" after a blocked or whiffed DP (as it should be)
-DP's are air unblockable.
-Throw gives an automatic small run before grabbing if done from a distance. (Dragon Rush 2.0??)
-Push blocking with 4A+D, but unlike Marvel you can't do it infinitely because it costs 1 bar.
-No air throws
-Active switch is when you're getting hit or in blockstun (press 5D+assist button) and your next character comes in. Uses up both of your blue guage resources at the bottom. Takes awhile to recovery when using this mechanic.
-Assist tag where you press 5D when your assist is out and you switch control to your assist. (Can do silly/funny stuff like call in Chie's Dragon Kick assist and switch while you're mid flight of her assist and cancel the animation but continue your forward momentum).
-"Cross Combo" is like an install by using both of your blue gauges (deplete over time to 0). You basically call in your assist and then again press Assist button+5D at the same time to activate and you can control your assist the entire time while using your point character. So for example, I can continue doing my thing with my character while pressing any direction+Assist to have my my partner character constantly do any of their 3 assist whenever I want until meter runs out.

More universal stuff:
-All UNIST characters can reverse beat. And air dash (assault animation).
-BB/P4A characters all seem to have their unique resource/mechanics. Makoto with her charges, Yukiko's Fire Levels, Rachel's wind. And Tager has auto magnetism right away (EW).
-Persona characters don't have cards that break. But hitting the Persona will have it shatter like normal and instead you just take damage.

Chie:
Normals
-4A is her old 5A
-4AAA is her old P4A vanilla autocombo ends with Black Spot. (4A > Flurry kick > Cartwheel > Black Spot).
-5A Is her old P4A 5B
-5AAA Is her new P4U2 auto combo that ends with Herculean Strike > Dragon Kick.
-2A is the same.
-5BB is her old 5C>2C.
-2B is the same, has air invuln.
-5C is basically her AOA overhead animation, super fast too. (All of the P4A/BB characters had quick 5C overheads.) Negative on block, but can call an assist right before it. But not after they block it.
-2C is her old 2A+B sweep.
-j.AA is her old j.BB
-j.B is her old j.C.
-j.C is her old j.2D and gives hard knockdown.
-A+D counter/universal reversal. (Air version does the kicks always and is air unblockable).

Special moves:
-236A Rampage
-A followup after to do Skull Cracker. (No longer need to input 236 again after rampage).
-236B/C Dragon Kick, C is the EX version. Both seemed to have a wallbounce?? Probably can follow it up somehow but after the kick I'm so far on the other side from them.
-214A/B/C Herculean Strike, B version covers more ground. C is the EX version, plus on block pretty sure and does a wall bounce that's fairly easy to convert off of.
-236B+C is God's Hand super. During power charge will have 2 fists come down. Not an overhead. In Resonance Blaze it will always be the 2 fists version. (Neat!)
-214B+C is Power Charge install. Gets to level 1 with one use. And straight to level 3 if done again. In Resonance Blaze Power Charge puts her at level 3 always.

While in Resonance Blaze and using Power Charge install if you hit any character with God's Hand super it will one shot any character in the game LMAO.

Resonance Blaze you constantly gain meter over time so... is Chie the equivalent of X-Factor Vergil maybe??

Assists:
-Back assist she does her old P4A 5D into 5DD. Seems super good when mixing it with your point characters offense. And even if you get push blocked she's stuck on them in the 5DD animation anyway~
-Neutral assist is her B Herculean Strike, it goes nearly full screen.. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure I remember it having two hits. Herculean Strike first, and if it hit them she did Black Spot which gave a wallbounce on hit.
-Forward assist her Dragon Kick ofc, also gives wallbounce on hit.

Also, tested this with her having her LV3 Power Charge install; her Neutral and Forward assist both do like 60% of their health lol. Her back assist did about 35-40%. She can use her install and tag out. What if using the Cross Combo mechanic with Power Charge is a thing..? Hmm

Overall, playing Chie really made me enjoy this game a ton and it felt very familiar despite the buttons being in different places. Hopefully the game comes soon, that's all for now thanks for reading!
