My name is Victoria Carlini. I wasn't sure if I should go public about this but thanks to a small group of friends and their support I have decided to go public with this news. To some, it will feel like I am attempting to grab attention. I wouldn’t blame them for feeling that way; hell if I was reading this it would probably be what I was thinking.
However, I feel obligated to reveal this information. This story revolves around a twitch channel I moderated for: the channel of Orion Acaba, who people will know as a voice actor and someone who, for a time, was on Critical Role. When I first joined his channel I was taking care of my grandmother at the time. I felt stressed and alone due to leaving my friends and my job to move and take care of my grandmother. She didn't want me there dealing with family members who had never helped me and were also making things worse. The channel was a getaway to watch someone and people to chat and laugh with where I soon became a moderator for Orion for just being there.
On September 8th, 2017 I dealt with one of the worst events in my life; I lost my dad (really my uncle but he was the one who raised me since I was 3) due to a blood clot. We were getting a generator up in Georgia as the hurricane (Irma) headed our way because the generator we had was over 25 years old and not working. While we were heading back home, the clot hit my dad while he was driving, causing us to crash into the side of a building.
I posted on twitter about this and blamed myself for the loss of my dad. Some of my friends that are fans of Orion and also watch him on his twitch channel, had informed Orion of the death of my father and the fact that I was in the middle of Hurrican Irma without my knowledge.
On the 13th of September 2017, I had learned that he had set up a charity stream for me and that all donations were going to my family because we were victims of Hurrican Irma and my father had died. I will be honest; I was confused for many reasons. At this time, I was backing away from his channel due to some of his behavior choices that had made me upset and very uncomfortable. I was also confused as to why he didn't ask me if I was alright or ask permission of any kind if he could do this. At the time, due to events that were transpiring, I was just so confused, I decided to be thankful and thought he was being kind.
At the begining of this charity donation event, he didn't ask for my paypal information. I thought this was weird because in the tweet announcing this charity event he said the money would go directly to me and my family, but I didn't question it because I trusted him. He had this charity stream go throughout the rest of the month of September.
When he ended the charity event he had raised from many people a little over $450.00. He then said on stream that he will be sending me $500 in total.
it wasn't until the beginning of November that I was notified by Jaguarldy, another moderator and fan from Orion's twitch stream, that Orion wanted my paypal information so that he could give me the money that people donated. I thought I would get the money then, but the money didn't come.
In December, since I still haden't recieved the money, I let Jaguarldy know. Jaguarldy then asked him again to send me the money. He responded by saying he needed to buy other things first. This is of course going against what he promised because in a tweet he said the money would go directly to me.
At this point I tried to contact him about this to give him another chance. I asked him if he had the money. He said he did but that he had to buy other things like headphones and a mouse and that he would be getting the money to me in the first week of January. This was again confusing to me. He said the money would go directly to me back in September. This was now December and je just said that he had to buy things for himself first. I then asked him if he spent the money from the charity on other things first. He responded saying he was doing things in order. That next was 526LA, and then he would give the money to me but that he had to do it through his LLC for tax purposes throguh his company and that I would get the money in the first week of January.
He said 526LA but what he meant was 826LA. He was referencing a 24 hour Charity event that he did on his twitch channel raising money for 826LA. This charity was one he did back in May of 2017 and what he just told me was that all of the money that he raised then, didn't go to that charity either.
Another thing that didn't make sense is the fact that he said this was taking long because it had to go through his LLC for tax purposes. But he is not the one donating the money. The people that donated to his channel are the ones donating the money so he shouldn't be getting any tax rightoff as he is just holding the charity event and transferring the money. He is not the one actually giving it.
I still gave him a chance and waited to the first week of January to see if I would get the money. It is now January 12th, well into the second week of January and I have not recieved any money. I have no idea if he gave 826LA the money he promised from the 24 hour charity stream back in May of 2017, but I do know that I have not recieved a dime from him.
I do know that he bought himself a lot of brand new items for himself as he let everyone on twitter know that he got a new PS4 and video games, and of course he mentioned to me how he bought himself headphonse and a computer mouse. I feel mortified and humiliated by this. It feels that he used me and my family situation for his own gain since I never even asked for this sort of help in the first place.
After telling this to a friend I learned other stories of incidents he has done that prompted me to release my story. Those other stories are not mine to tell. At this point, while money would’ve helped my family at the time, I don't want the money. I don't care if I ever get the money, but I do think that everyone who watched, participated, and donated should know where the money actually went as I feel they were lied to. And I feel Orion Acaba should release a formal apology to those involved as they trusted him and believed him. I also think Orion needs to get himself professional help, and should never be allowed to stream on Youtube or Twitch again as he has proven to me that he cannot be trusted.
I am so sorry to all of those who donated thinking there money was going to a certain cause when it only went to his personal gain. I can tell you that any guests Orion had on his twitch channel had no idea he would pocket the money for himself and that they all believed him, just as we did, that the money would go where he said it would. I am heartbroken that Orion would use the death of my father for his own personal gain, and I am even more heartbroken that he lied to his fans. I do not wish him harm, I just want him to give his fans the apology they deserve.
Attached with this I have the Tweet Orion sent out to announce the charity stream, and that all of the money will go directly to me and my family. I also have attached the message conversations between me and Orion of when I sent my paypal infromation, and when I asked if I was ever going to get the money, and the messages between him and Jaguarldy where she asked if he was going to send the money to me.
