A Look Into Team Venus:

Given all the talk around the involvement of Women in Overwatch, we felt as a team we should let it be known where we stand and what our goals are!

Team Venus formed back in August 2017 as a group of ladies looking to play in an all female tournament hosted by GanymedesGirls. It felt great to compete in what would be some of our members first tournament. One of the players representing Team Venus took the victory. This newfound drive and passion for the game led us to come together as our own team and immerse ourselves into the Scrim/Team side of Overwatch.

Through the months of scrims we formed what is now Team Venus. The members who represent us currently have all built a bond together. We feel like we've fostered an environment of learning and growth as a result of putting in the work. We all feel we are in a group that has pushed through and overcome many obstacles a newly formed team would experience. There is a genuine enjoyment we all find coming together each day. The cohesion among our players is what we feel continues to drive us to succeed. With that said, Team Venus is an all female roster.

There has been a lot of talk surrounding Women's involvement in Overwatch/OWL, due large in part to Blizzards mission of having Overwatch as a front runner in diversity and inclusion. We fully support any person/team with the goal of obtaining a spot in the OWL regardless of gender. We do however feel that like many games before Overwatch, that women have not always been encouraged to compete at a high level. This is not to say that there aren't women out there making an impact in the competitive scene. The women of the Overwatch community have the same opportunity to climb as their male counterparts. How they choose to find that success is ultimately up to them. Team Venus is here to say we support women in anyway they choose to go about making their impact as a player/team.

We currently have our eyes set on the Female Pro League (FPL) currently projected for February 2018. If you're currently with an all female team or a free agent looking to find a group of women that you can build synergy with please sign up through their website and see what possibilities are out there for you.

Team Venus is not here to limit ourselves from playing in mixed team tournaments. We're currently signed up for UGC League to further our tournament/league experience. We simply feel this is the next step for us as a team. We look forward to seeing what the next level of competition we can achieve will be and hope to have your support in doing so!

TL;DR read it, we're out here!
