Here's the update on Academy Gaming moving forward due to the new license

A quick update before I get into the details: the next 2 AG's will be on Tuesdays (12/26 and 1/2) due to Christmas and New Years.

Now for those unaware, Blizzard changed their community license for Overwatch tournaments. It's my understanding that most tournaments such as WarpMeta and Go4's in Europe have closed down. The main reason for this is because they no longer allow consumer brands in the gaming space to provide any prize pool, making it near impossible to have one. They also are forcing community events to be titled as a Community Event and show no association with any partners or sponsors.

If you want to see the full scope of the details you can find them here: https://communitytournaments.blizzardesports.com/en-us/franchises/90b3fad1-bb2b-47ac-8a9a-2d1d026a7a21

With this is mind, I don't want to hurt any reputation or image that our partners have, so we will be parting ways with Haste and Matcherino. Although I sent in a request to Blizzard to allow for them to continue to support us, after this Tuesday those partnerships will cease to exist. This may be revisited if Blizzard gets back to me.

I want to give a ***HUGE*** thank you to both Haste and Matcherino for their support. Matcherino has been with AG since the summer of 2016 and Haste earlier this year, both having contributed thousands of dollars into our weekly events. AG wouldn't be where it is right now without their support, so please show them some love for what they've done to keep us going.

Now, I understand that the Open and Contenders will take some competition out of the picture and that's fantastic, it creates for an effective way for great teams to transition into the higher levels of play. However, the Open does not provide for an effective tournament setting where if you lose one you're out. The thrill of AG every week is something I know a lot of players love and that's why I'm going to continue to run these events without a prize pool.

AG will still be on Mondays at the same time and using the same format, although I may adjust the maps to better help teams get prepared for what they'll play in Open/Contenders.

I truly don't know if we'll have many teams play now, but we can at least try and have it available for those that still wish to compete. If it comes down to it we may just run it every other week rather instead of every week. I do not know right now, so we will see where things are at in January.

Again, thank you to everyone who has supported AG including Haste and Matcherino. I look forward to seeing what sort of turnout we have on January 2nd when this goes into effect.
