Personal Update

Sitting here at my family home in the middle of Somerset, England, I decided it was time to write down some thoughts and let you know my plans going forward. Maybe a larger summary post is warranted regarding 2017 as it was quite the year. But for now this will do!

2017 certainly had its ups and downs. Considering there was a point that I considered we might have to plan for relegation in Spring had we lost to Giants Gaming in week 8. I would not have dreamed back then of ever making the Quarterfinals of Worlds. I am immensely proud of what we achieved and all of the players involved. I know how hard it was this year and have the utmost respect for everyone involved, especially Dylan, Mads, Martin, Jesse, Paul and Rasmus.

Over the last two years I've been managing the Fnatic LoL team in Berlin. During this time I've gone from being practically Deilor's slave, to building the (two) teams for 2017, taking over as head coach and now currently running the Berlin / LoL operation. Culminating in Spring where I was responsible for 20+ personnel including challenger team, subs, analysts, cook etc (15 of which were situated in Berlin) and 4 properties. The amount of knowledge, contacts and experience i've gained from this time has been immense. Not to mentioned the pure amount of enjoyment i've had with awesome people on a daily basis. I can firmly state that these are the two best years of my life.

I love my job and I love the team. However, I’ve never really been able to settle in Berlin doing the job that I have been. My plan originally was to return to London with the rumours of the national leagues and manage the team from there in Summer. Unfortunately this week, RIOT announced their plans for 2018 which did not include this.

Not living in Berlin obviously means that it would be very difficult to continue in the role of Fnatic's onsite League of Legends manager. A decision I've had to make with a heavy heart.

Over the next few months I look forward to taking a bit of a break and helping Fnatic plan for 2018, whilst considering my future options both within Fnatic and potentially elsewhere!
