On Monday 2 October at 19.00 I will hold an event in which all European players will be online on Smashladder to play with each other. In order to stimulate the growth of the EU ladder, I will hold this event at 19.00 and invite all Europeans to join the chat room, use the ladder, find matches and play Smash4 online together! I am sure that after experiencing what a real, active ladder full of good players feels like for a day, many European players will be convinced to come back and play on it regularly!
WHY A LADDER?
The Europeans scene needs to be improved on in order to further maximize the skill level of our players. Europe has many players with untapped potential, but due to some restrictions in our offline and online scene, our talent has trouble flourishing.
Various changes have already been made to create a better offline scene for the European community. More tournaments, ranging from weeklies to monthlies to internationals, are held (some of them even part of a European circuit!), many countries communicate much better with each other, and as a results more and more people have started to travel to each other's countries. This is great!
However, Europe's online scene has always been very lackluster. Many players with whom I have talked do actually express the desire to train online more often, but they have a lot of trouble finding worthy opponents. This means that outside of tournaments and smashfests, European players have very little opportunities to actively train, outside of sitting in a 15 year old Training Mode or fighting clearly inferior players on For Glory.
The European Ladder aims to solve this issue by creating the online scene European Smash4 players deserve. I hope that European players will be able to find strong (European) opponents quickly, enabling them to practice as efficiently as possible and improve to their fullest!
HOW DOES IT WORK
First, create an account on smashladder.com. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CREATE AN ACCOUNT 24 HOURS BEFORE ACTUALLY USING IT. DURING THE FIRST 24 HOURS OF YOUR ACCOUNT YOU CANNOT LOOK FOR RANKED MATCHES.
On Monday I will create a Europe Chatroom. Search for the group "European Ladder" and join it. You're in the European chat now!
Search for matches by clicking on Start Matchmaking and choose whether you want a 'Best of 3 Set' or a 'Best of 5 Set'. You can choose to play either a friendly set (which will not count towards your rank) or a ranked set (which will count towards your rank).
If you play ranked matches, you will be playing a feel placement matches first, after which you will be placed in a rank. The ranks range from Bronze (lowest) to Grandmaster (highest). If you wish, you can also filter your search on your opponent's rank. Europeans have their own leaderboards!
Be sure to switch on "Restrict Search on Current Chat Group" and alternatively also "Restrict Search on Continent".
