Phil Nichol: Your Wrong #edfringe review #Edinburgh

It's at this time of night during the Fringe that you start to flag, but Nichol makes damn sure you're awake, immediately grabbing your attention. The atmosphere is pub-like as he joyfully plays the guitar along to some of his favourite music. As the audience take their seats, he acknowledges them and asks how they're doing.

Nichol explodes into his routine with the energy of a puppy on Red Bull, leaving you feeling just as energised. "Your Wrong" is a personal story which gives us an insight into Nichol's life growing up in Canada with his Scottish Christian parents - who he mimics with a tremendous Scottish impression.

With a background in acting, Nichol's professionalism shines through in his delivery which is frantic but dignified. He has a lot to say on the topic of being wrong, especially when it comes to the family tragedy that he faced as a young man. However, Nichol is animated throughout the whole show and never fails to keep the audience's undivided attention.

Nichol wants to inspire us to enjoy ourselves and be thankful for the wrongs that may have gotten us to the right place today, and he does exactly that with his powerful story which leaves us dancing our way out of the venue.

Nichol has come here with nothing to prove; he's already a highly acclaimed award winner. But his professional nature means he won't take it easy; he is driven to deliver 100% to every performance.
