The Quick n' Dirty Guide to UmaPuyo Race (for the EN Puyo crowd)

Okay, a lot of you guys have caught wind of the JRA (Japan Racing Association, it's a horseracing company) x Puyo collab, "UmaPuyo" (literally 'Horse Puyo'). The thing itself is a small collab, featuring two minigames: UmaPuyo Race, and UmaPuyo Jump. UPRace has a bit more substance to the more straightforward UPJump, so I'll be explaining the former.

UPRace is a swap-and-match mini game where you slide pieces in a linear fashion to match Puyo and like we all normally do. HOWEVER, the piece swapping isn't limited to one cell at a time, something commonly found in Bejweled. It's more like Disney Meteos, HuniePop, or w/e earlier example that lets you move pieces as far as you can in a straight line, horizontal or vertical. You can still move while Puyo are popping, so you can really rack up long chains from pure reflexes alone. As you build chains, your jockey will speed up, and your aim of the game is to cross the Goal before the competition by holding your top speed.

Upon starting, you're only given the A Trio to select with.

Arle, "My Pace Advancer Type" - Your jack of stats character. Short chains, long chains, just play as you like.
Ringo, "Forceful Breakthrough Type" - The "slow starter" type of character. She'll only really pick up speed from longer chains, so use her if you have good foresight and reflexes.
Amitie, 'Brisk Runner Type" - The opposite of the above. She gets fast with quick, short chains, good for people who aren't as good at long chains.

Once you pick your jockey, pick a horse color, a name (the orange rotating arrows button is a Random Generator), and confirm. You're good to go! Your browser will store a cookie of the play data, but it's a good idea to bookmark the URL, since it will autofill your cookie's player ID.

On the front screen, there's a red "Single Player" campaign mode, where you race through 6 cups and butting heads against a rival jockey. The green one is online "Player vs Player" mode, where you're pitted against another player to see who comes out on top.

Now, when you started playing, you may notice that it has three locked characters. Here's their conditions! (You don't necessarily have to post it either, if you don't want to flood your friends' TLs.)

Carbuncle, "Forceful Breakthrough Type" - Share a Single Player results screen through SNS.
Schezo, "Brisk Runner Type" - Win 5 PVP matches and share your 5th victory.
Satan "Turnabout Rider Type" - Win all 6 cups in Single Player. (Satan's type is unique in that he's a more extreme version of the Forceful Breakthrough Type. Use him if you're REALLY good at these types of games.)

Now go forth, my EN UmaPuyo jockeys!
