Jamie MacDonald: Designated Driver #edfringe review #edinburgh

That funny blind guy is exactly that. Jamie is registered blind and not afraid to use it. In this joyous routine he blithely makes fun of the daily issues he has encountered due to his disability.

The crowd were quite quiet and, as Jamie was led to the stage, I have to admit I feared the worst. However I'm pleased to say that Jamie smashed it. His stories of Scotland - Glasgow in particular - had me crying tears of joy. Too many highlights to mention but the walk at Loch Lommond was a personal favourite.

He's at the heart of almost every one of his tales, but somehow it never seems self indulgent. Each story not only has great punchlines but plenty of laughing points along the way.

Blindness is obviously going to limit a comedian, but Jamie plays to his strengths and is certainly not one to shy away as crowd interaction seems to delight him.

This was a brilliant show and I highly recommend it.
