Adam Hess: Cactus @ The Hive 18:00 #edfringe review

Hotly anticipated and did not disappoint. It was a fast-paced, gag-packed hour of comedy and, although probably not award winning, it was certainly enough to see Hess established as one of the "must-see" comedians for many years to come.

His style is what can only be described as frantic; so much to tell you but so little time. He rushes through so much material that you probably end up getting two shows for the price of one; "value for money" as he puts it.

This show is, in some ways, very similar to last year's. It has the same formula, plenty of background and includes previously tweeted material. However, this time around we have an underling love story which, at times, gets lost in amongst everything else that's going on. Had this been more prominent then perhaps Hess would have had an even better show on his hands.

Overall, it was very good. Even if some material flashed by without you noticing, you didn't have to worry because there would be plenty of other reasons to laugh just around the corner.
