My friends at @GBHunting, this was from a Christian Kirk feature in the Chronicle in October 2015, before he was allowed to visit with the A&M beat media:

Kirk, a five-star recruit, graduated early from Saguaro and enrolled at A&M in January. From spring drills on, his coaches have praised his work ethic - and said even the veterans have witnessed how to work from Kirk.

Tracing his work ethic doesn't simply go back to Saguaro but extends 10 years before that to Distinctly Different Detailing, his father's business in Phoenix.

"When you're first starting out a family, there's not a lot of money to go around," said Kirk's mother, Melissa. "We couldn't afford to hire a baby-sitter or put him in day care. So Christian was about 5 years old and going to work all day with his dad (Evan) in the summer, and literally helping him wash cars.

"We have pictures of him holding a pressure washer, helping his dad out in the 115-degree heat here in Arizona."

While his parents ingrained a work ethic in Christian from the start, Melissa said she's never seen anyone continue to embrace working hard to get ahead like her son.

"He'd be at practice and school all day long and then come home, and he'd mow the yard or wash the dishes or whatever needed to be done," Melissa said of Christian's high school years.

That straightforward approach to tasks at hand, along with blazing speed, helped earn Kirk (5-11, 200) immediate playing time for A&M in its opener against the program that finished second in his recruiting - Arizona State.
