[TRANS] http://bit.ly/2r5MPD4 ㅡ Sunny with Sogeum

Cat- Her name is Sogeum.
I named her Sogeum because her body is white.
She's 3 years old this year, and is a Devon Rex.
She's a lady.

1. How did you meet Sogeum?
-I'm actually allergic to fur and dust. Despite that, I really wanted to take care of a pet. So I looked up what animals are less sensitive to allergies, and the breed Devon Rex came up as the poodle of cats. I felt that the short hair would be okay for my allergies compared to others, and made my decision. After a difficult search for one in Korea, I met Sogeum four months later.

2. What's Sogeum's personality like? Does she have any specialties?
-Like her name, her personality is salty [mean] (laughs). She never shows any aegyo (acts cute) to others. No matter how much you ask for her affection, she's always arrogant. But she's different with me. She's stuck to her mom like gum. When she's only with me, she has a lot of aegyo, and always talks to me. She also climbs on top of me and falls asleep. Sogeum's specialty is opening doors. She can open the closet door. She'll hang on the doorknob and open it by using her weight to pull the handle down. She likes opening the door quietly like that and going inside the closet.

3. How do you play with Sogeum?
-We both enjoy laying in bed. We both lay there and space out (laughs). Of course, Sogeum only plays with me when she feels like it.

4. What does Sogeum do when you leave the house?
-I try to stay home as much as possible. However, if I have the stay out long because of a schedule, I either leave her at my family's house or my sister's. But I heard that cats feel a sense of belonging at places. So I try to keep her at our house instead of other people's homes. Sogeum's most comfortable at home, too. If I see Sogeum for the first time in a while due to overseas schedules, she acts particularly mean. As if she's complaining saying, 'Why are you only coming now?', she wrinkles the middle of her forehead and meows. She gets cheered up when I give her a treat and comes to me.

5. When do you feel you made the right decision becoming a family with Sogeum?
-There are times when I get consoled through Sogeum. Of course, it could just be all in my head (laughs). There are times when I'm having a hard time or am upset, she'll come to me and quietly cuddles with me. I think emotional exchanges like that are a big happiness. Also, when I go home, Sogeum greets me at the door. It's not much, but I feel a great sense of comfort. When caring for cats, I think being cautious around them is the unavoidable fate of 'butlers' (laughs).

6. What's a particular charm cats have?
-It's their arrogance. Their will of, 'I won't give you my consent easily', is incredible. She always makes me beg (laughs). The more you spend time with one, the more you fall into the charms of cats. It makes you think, 'If I do better, we should be able to live better together'. Sogeum doesn't play around with other people, and doesn't even eat treats from others. It's times like that that make me think I'll have to be responsible for Sogeum forever.

ADVICE: As someone who is experienced, is there any advice you can give to people who will be adopting a pet?
-Before I started caring for a cat, I didn't have any background knowledge. I've had experience taking care of pets when I was younger, but that was far from enough. So while caring for Sogeum, I looked up books and searched online to learn a lot. If you want to avoid rushing into things like I did, I think it would be good to gain lots of knowledge before getting a pet. Because I love Sogeum, I feel deeply into cats and also naturally started getting an interest in street cats. If you bring a cat into your family, please create a responsible relationship with the mindset that you're going to be with it forever, no matter what.
