Maturity and decorum in U.K. Hearthstone

It is incredibly rare that I, as the organisation owner, feel the need to write anything on social media, as the majority of this work is undertaken by two incredible social media managers, who I can't thank enough - Colin and Ben.

Indeed, it was those two people who advised me not to speak out about this particular subject but I feel, having played for organisations in Counter-Strike myself, I feel that I understand the value of having an organisation support me even when I don't expect them to. It is, in my opinion, the role of organisations to ensure the comfort of their players both inside and outside the confines the organisation. I therefore apologise if anyone feels that entering into "drama" is unprofessional, but the purpose of this post is to (hopefully) prevent further drama, rather than create the.

When Danswf joined the organisation, we were told of his previous runnings with ex-teammates and the resultant loss of reputation those events had on Dan. Regardless of whether or not the events occurred as we were told, we have, and always will continue to support Dan throughout his Hearthstone career with us, as we believe that all players involved should let bygones be bygones and be done with the matter.

It is for that reason that I am so disappointed on a weekly basis when I am watching Dan play on the ESL stream for the UK Premierships, that I see other players continually slating him and insulting him in the chat for no apparent reason. His history is the only reason I can seem to think of, but it isn't so distant now that it would be simply childish for players to still be slating him for that.

Constant comments of people moaning about how lucky he is to top-deck certain cards and how he doesn't deserve to be in the Premiership are, in my opinion, pathetic.

The sad thing is, I would totally understand the insults if Dan was doing something to provoke these comments on a weekly basis. If he was joining your streams / games and saying how lucky you a lot of the UK HS players are, then I could totally understand it. But he's not. He sits there every day, gets his head down and works towards his dream, rather than trying to get caught up in some self-indulgent drama which helps nobody.

If any of you actually sat down and talked to Dan you would realise he is an incredibly kind individual with large aspirations to become a Hearthstone professional some time down the line, and I have full faith in him that he will accomplish this, judging by his hard work.

He has been nothing but supportive to me, and his fellow teammate, Meati, and doesn't ask for anything in return.

It is for this reason that it baffles me as to why people would continually seek to insult him and attempt to dampen the fire that is his Hearthstone successes as of late.

I would ask that people change their harsh words for words of support and get to know Dan before insulting him.

I have learned in my personal time in eSports that there is no greater environment to grow and improve than in an environment of friendliness and support.

We are very proud of how far Dan has come in the last year, and we are sure he will continue to grow even further in 2017/18, along with his teammate Meati, who has seen similar successes as of late.
