Fellow Pokémon GO players, I have some bad news. Throughout the existence of PokéTracker, I have always complied fully with the requests of The Pokemon Company International (TPCI), Niantic and all other parties involved with the phenomenon that is Pokémon GO. This was the reasoning for our transition from using Pokémon images to name bubbles back in December and is unfortunately the reasoning for this communication. Today, just as I was finalising fixes for the current issues with PokéTracker, I received notice from the legal team representing TPCI, that they officially take issue with our usage of Pokémon Trainer Club accounts and how we access Pokémon GO data in an unofficial and unauthorised manner. As such, I have to make the sad decision to make drastic, core changes to PokéTraker.

I really do believe that the game is better with some level of local Pokémon tracking. I never went for a full 'everywhere' tracker, sharing finds between users, as this seemed to take all the fun out of playing - but the ability to scan your immediate vicinity, and receive notifications about local spawns made the game much more fun, at least for me!

What happens next? I have temporarily removed PokéTracker from the App Store and will insert a message in the launch sequence linking to here. I plan to relaunch the app with a different direction in the near future - PokéTracker will return as the best Pokémon stats tool (Max IVs, Moveset analysis, Buddy Distance, Rarity, Capture/Flee Probabilities, Type Effectiveness etc), item information (potions, balls, evolution items etc) and IV & Evolution calculator (manual and/or screenshot based) out there! Existing PRO users will retain this status in the new app!

In the event that Pokémon/Niantic open up an official API, I will be back - in full force - to again make the BEST tracker out there. For now though, with heavy heart, I have to shutter this avenue of this endeavour.
