Miranda Must Go. Must she?

‪ @waituntilcalled I totally agree with "I notice how often people encounter dead ends when they're trying to find information about Aboriginal people, and that's largely because we've almost disrupted their connection to country through colonialism," but can you also see how for us 'whites' here in this country because of colonialism we also 'need' heritage and connection as well. We are not British. But we are not inherent to this land either. What do we embrace as our art and culture? Picnic at Hanging Rock is ours to own and celebrate. There are two cultures at war with each other. Clamouring for identity. And I very much respect and acknowledge what colonialism did to our Indigenous peoples. But I don't think that it's as straightforward as #mirandamustgo I think we need to somehow acknowledge and celebrate both cultures and identities. But admit I don't know how this can be achieved. But I do know as someone born to this beautiful land not of my own choice (convict stock) that I feel threatened and displaced when certain parts of my culture are criticised. I want to own and be proud of MY heritage and it's so hard to sift through my colonial past wearing my black arm band and find good things to celebrate. ‬
