Changes ahead... farewell for now, SoCal.

In February 2001, I was driving down the 5 from SF to LA on my way to the Angels front offices. It was to be my first stop before heading out to Tempe, AZ for my first spring training assignment as radio Producer/Engineer.

16 years later, I’m saying good bye.

I’m heading back to my hometown of San Francisco, to start a new position as radio Producer/Engineer for the San Francisco Giants and KNBR. It is the same position I’ve been privileged to hold for the Angels for many years. While I’m excited to return home to The City and work with an amazing team of announcers, I’ll miss everything about my time with the Halos.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mario Impemba, Daron Sutton, (the late) Rory Markas, Terry Smith, Jose Mota, Rex Hudler, Steve Physioc, Victor Rojas, Mark Gubicza, Steve Klauke, and the young lefty with a nasty hook, Mark Langston.

At the same time, I will also say farewell to my friends at Lakers radio, who have been my offseason home for 16 years as well.

It starts, as it should, with Hall of Famer Chick Hearn, Stu Lantz, Paul Sunderland, Joel Meyers, Spero Dedes, John Ireland, and fellow pro wrestling enthusiast, Mychal Thompson.
Yes, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some incredible broadcasters here in Southern California.

At the same time, I will also miss the world-class communications staff at the Angels, headed by Tim Mead. You’d be hard pressed to find a more respected man in baseball. The PR team of Eric Kay, Adam Chodzko, and Matt Birch. All aces. And the best traveling secretary in MLB, Tom Taylor.

Angels fans, thank you for letting me be a part of your world for 16 seasons. Go easy on Angel Talk with Terry, OK?

I’ll see you in interleague play down the road…
