My decision for HGC

HeyGuys

I want to first apologize to all my fans out there who were excited to see me compete in HGC, I know this is a disappointing news for you.

I went into HGC qualifiers without much planning for the actual HGC league itself, only that I will be taking a "casual approach". I did make sure to communicate this to my teammates for the qualifiers, as well as everyone else who asked.

I still tried my best to qualify, 5 days of practice and pretty big sacrifice to my stream hours. Did that for about 3 weeks. This was clearly not my idea of a casual approach but it had to be done to actually qualify. Because once we get in, we are "set". Or so I thought.

Once we were in the league and got together for a group meeting, it became clear to me that some of my teammates wanted to practice even more than what we put into the qualifiers. It is completely understandable since they are not in the same career situation as I am, but I do not have any intention of putting my full-time streaming behind for a competitive career in HoTS.

So naturally, we have different ideas on the level of commitment we are willing to make. And the more I tried to make it work, the more I tried to find the middle ground, the more apparent it became that this was not going to be a fun experience for any of us. It is either I make full commitment as a competitive player and keep playing with my team for at least 6 to 12 months, or I make full commitment as a streamer and leave the team. There is no inbetween. Because unless I give it my 100%, I can easily be blamed for our future failures. Even if we perform moderately, my sacrifice to my streaming is nothing more than me playing my part in a team. Only if we become one of the best teams in the world is this endeavor worthwhile for me. And let's be real, that is not gonna happen unless I give up full time streaming.

Keep in mind that if we were able to be on the same page with the level of "casual approach" we wanna have as a team, i would've absolutely played HGC 2017. But I have made some clearly big oversights, it turned out.

So it literally just comes down to a single question. Do I want to commit a full year to competitve HoTS purely for the competition? The answer is, no.

I know myself well enough that I will not have fun being super restricted by rigorous scheduling of having to full time both competitive HoTS and streaming, while having little to no option of free time for the things I had planned for 2017. Looking at HGC calender and the amount of time some of my teammates want to commit to practicing, it is best I step out and pursue my personal goals on my own, while my teammates play with someone else who will make the same amount of commitment. I believe this is the only way to minimize the damage done to our team when looking at the bigger picture.

Thanks for reading guys. Hopefully that clears some of your questions.
