Rhys James: Forgives #Edfringe review

I'm sure many will know the name Rhys James. Whether you follow him on Twitter or not, he will have no doubt appeared on your timeline.

He's one of the best word smiths out there and his material is always cleverly put together, maximising every single character in every short tweet.

The question for me was could he get away from this material or at least adapt it properly for live stage? This is something I feel he has struggled to do in previous attempts.

I'm curious from the off, as even before he enters the stage we are told that this is the new Rhys James and you know what? He ain't wrong.
He storms this show, nailing every aspect of it. The production is slick with a natural feel and it highlights everything that Rhys is good at. You get the feeling that every word within the 1 hour time frame has been longingly agonised over, making sure every one of them has maximum impact, ensuring that the show flows fast and seamlessly from start to finish.

Nothing too powerful or complex, this is just a great getting-to-know-you show. It is a wonderful introduction to who I'm sure is going to be one of the next big things.

You laugh along and throughout, clapping at every impressive component that makes up what is a wonderfully enjoyable show.
If he finds a way to bring out those big laughs; the kind that are drawn from you unexpectedly, the ones that are uncontrollable. Find a way of getting them and he will have something close to perfection.
