Seymour Mace: Shit Title #edfringe review

Surreal is an understatement as Mace has written one of those shows where you walk out in disbelief at what you have just witnessed.

It's obvious even before the start that this is no ordinary show; walking up the stairs you can hear Mace belting out a song in a, let's just say, less than professional manner. As you walk into the room you see Mace sitting on the stage, the performance appears to be live, the show looks like it's in full swing and so we scramble towards the nearest seats. It's only then that we discover what we thought was a keyboard is nothing more than a small card table and we are now roaring with laughter before we are even properly seated. You get plenty within this hour; song, dance, a very funny audience participation quiz and some other crazy and surreal moments involving kids toys, bananas and a set of mannequin hands.

Shit Title is so much fun, yet still thought provoking. The theme may be dark but Mace is able to make it hilarious and very silly, resulting in a smile that never seams to leave your face.

Mace's story is touching as he paints the picture of being a lonely and depressed person who struggles to cope one Edfringe to the next. How much of that is true, we are not sure but he certainly knows how to make others happy.

A wonderfully written show and a brilliant performance makes this an Edfringe must see.
