"Here's a little—whatever. A little thing. A disclosure. An insight." (SPOILERS)

Now that we've reached the end of the journey, I thought some of you may be interested in the Season 2 synopsis I presented to IDW in December 2013. It's been ever-so-slightly edited to avoid Season 3 spoilers, but is otherwise intact. What you're not getting are the character arcs and the individual story synopses, which give too much away. If we ever do that MTMTE/LOST LIGHT omnibus, maybe we'll put them in there.

TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
‘Season 2’ outline (issues #28 to #54)
(17/12/13)

Overview

Over the course of 27 issues, ‘Season 2’ of MTMTE tells the story of Megatron’s defection to the Autobots; the sometimes painful adjustments that the skeptical crew of the Lost Light must make to accommodate him; and the Decepticon Justice Division’s terrifying response upon learning of his betrayal.

The season finale, a five-parter that kicks off with issue #50, takes place on the surface of a huge, hollow planet used as a mold to create Cybertron. In a protracted, Zulu-style showdown, the remaining members of the core cast, abandoned by the rest of the Lost Light crew following a surprise coup, must defend a fortress full of sleeping, time-lost Cybertronians against the new, thousand-strong DJD army.

Between issues #28 and #54, Chromedome will find another Rewind, Tailgate will change in a way that no-one expects, a longstanding crewmember will be revealed as a traitor, our heroes will meet Shadowplay-era Orion Pax, we’ll learn more about what makes Megatron tick, an Autobot character will die, and the Scavengers will return – pursued by the new Duly Elected Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord, Fortress Maximus.

In amongst all this, Rodimus and Co will confront personality parasites, get chased by planets, discover the secret of the Necrobot and meet a sadistic mnemovore.

Themes

Season 1 was about hidden histories, unintended consequences and memory. Season 2 is about revenge, love and loss. Throughout the season we’ll learn about characters who have died or gone missing – people like Dominus Ambus (Rewind’s first sparkmate), Roller (from Shadowplay), Brainstorm’s unrequited love, and Megatron’s never-before-seen mentor. The Necrobot, meanwhile, has dedicated his life to cataloguing the dead – but somewhere on the planet he’s made his own there’s a list of Cybertronians who are neither dead nor alive, just unaccounted for: they are known as The Disappeared, and one day they'll come back.

Fundamentally, however, Season 2 is about the impact that Megatron has on the world around him. In their reactions to him, some of the crew bring out the worst in themselves and make decisions that lead to tragedy, betrayal and death.
