Save #Rohingya from #Parein of #Mrauk U #Arakan #Myanmar
Rohingya from Parein, Mrauk U, Rakhine State were attacked by State's sponsored mobs in 2012 and burnt down 204 hoseholds. After the violence, WFP has been providing rice for 270 families from Parein since 2012. On 14.7.16, staffs of WFP informed that "WFP won't provide rice for those people except few families. Two months ago, 400 families from that particular village appealed for help as they had no right to work and most of them live in abject poverty. Among all villagers, only 28 families are able to farm. Before 2012, most of the villagers from Parein relied on causal work for their livelihood. After the violence, they have been being blocked and have no right to go out to find food.
According to WFP staffs, UN agencies want new government to take responsibilies of own people; rather than proving rice, they want victims put pressure on government. But Rohingya under genocidal ghettos have no right to see responsible person of authority and no government officer cares about them. Rohingya in Parein ghetto plead local authority as well as international community to lift blockage and let them work to survive, attend school, and get medical assistance as they had before 2012.
Today, 16.7.16, two Rohingya from Parein were robbed by the police officers who station Southern part of the village, near Rakhine village taking duty of security guards. Akbar Sha, 40 years old and Bakshubi, 25 years lady went to market in Paungduk of Mrauk U to buy food and necessary things for the villagers. While they returned to their village holding things they bought, two police officers from the security post robbed all of their things and money. They came back to the village crying and empty hands.
Many Rohingya expected before that NLD government led by DawAung San Suu Kyi would remove blockage and restore their rights but they feel desperate situation now, no sign of improvement can be visible for them. How long does the government keep Rohingya under genocidal blickage and how long will they survive without fundamental rights and necessaties?
We would like to request WFP and INGOs for aids to them until government lifts blockage and implements rule of law.
Sincerely,
@Aungaungsittwe
