Behind the Scenes info in regards to Mark and Michael from @SpecialAgntM #NCIS

The following information comes from Sam's sources. There will be a few posts.

"It's been a long time in coming -- a little thing called "life" keeps getting in the way -- but at long last, as promised, it's time to revisit the events of the past few years that resulted in Michael Weatherly departing the cast of NCIS after 13 years in the role of Anthony DiNozzo.

Those who have been regular visitors to the Tiva Nation site are fully aware of what has been going on now for well over the past three years. During that period of time I have done my best to find out as much of what has been going on as I could, with results that have greatly surprised me. I have found out far more than I ever hoped for, and have established a few contacts, a few sources, that have provided me, and thus you, with information that has put many of us here well ahead of the curve as far as understanding what has been going on. Every once and awhile it benefits us to go back and review everything as it gives us the chance to refresh our memories as to what has happened, plus maybe even enhance our understanding of past events with newly discovered information.

It is also my intention this time around to make every effort possible to get this information out in a few other areas as well, to help others understand exactly what has been going on behind the scenes at one of the most popular series on the CBS Network. Some of the sites where this will be posted at will be those that will most likely be hostile to receiving the information. That's too bad, but I see it as those being places that need to be made aware of the truth even more than many of us here. I know very well that we have had "visitors" who have spread the information posted here, something I have no problem with at all. At the same time, I also know that some of the information has been spread in a, shall we say, slightly inaccurate way. By making sure that this information gets posted directly I think that it can be discussed and cussed accurately. That's really all I or anybody else can ask for in the end.

Some of you may wonder why I would even care about sharing this information, making it available to others outside of our site. It's simple: More and more people have picked up on how uncomfortable Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly have appeared doing scenes together on NCIS. That is, whenever they have had scenes together at all; the number of scenes together began to shrink during the 11th season, continued to do so for the first half of Season 12, then went back up a bit for the second half (corresponding to when people first began to pick up and comment on something not being quite right between them)of that season, and then trailing off again this past season. It never got as bad as the situation on "The Good Wife" where it's star and the actress playing Khalinda had no scenes together, other than when they chatted over the phone, but it came pretty damn close.

So, some basic questions to answer for all of those folks out there unfamiliar with the situation, but wanting to know more about it: First, are Harmon and Weatherly feuding? The answer to that question is a sad but simple "yes". They had a falling out that started shortly after the start of working on the 11th season and got even worse after Weatherly got his last contract and work started on the 12th season. How bad is it? At one point during the 12th season (fairly early on in it) they were observed by one of my sources (the same one who helped break the news shared on this site back in October that Weatherly was, indeed, leaving NCIS at the end of the 13th season, news that was inadvertently confirmed by David McCallum in an interview he gave at the same time, but that wasn't made public until early January of this year)communicating with each other by having -- aides, associates, whatever you want to call them -- exchanging written statements. And this with them sitting next to each other the entire time. How long that had been going on my source doesn't know -- judging from when it happened I would say that it started shortly after work on the 12th season began -- nor do they know how long it lasted. My guess is that it ended shortly after CBS called both of them on the carpet for their "unprofessional behavior" and approach to their situation. While both made a concentrated effort to make sure that their dislike for one another didn't show up onscreen, in the end, it did. And while they no longer communicated with one another in that manner, they made no effort at trying to communicate period, other than what was necessary for them to do as far as doing a scene was concerned. When that wasn't happening, they made every effort to stay as far away from each other as they could. That was something that my source said was clearly obvious last year, early on as work on the 13th season got underway.

The next question is the most obvious to ask, and one that is both simple and yet complicated to answer, made so because of everything involved in the answer: Why did it happen? More on that one in the next post."
