If you're using a computer and are curious about a specific a character press & hold Control+F. A Tab will open up and then type the characters name.

From my perspective of the game these are the things I would buff / nerf / change on characters to help competitive play. At the current rate it's no surprise to see characters like Diddy / Sonic / Cloud flooding competitive play.

Now it will never be possible to have characters that all go 50/50 vs everyone in the cast however smash 4 devs have done a really good job of balancing the game so far compared to previous franchises. Here's some things I would change.

Cloud ~ The character with amazing range, extremely low lag and arguably the best kill potential in the game. I'd honestly give this character LAG and slightly alter his air speed. As it is right now very few characters can ever HARD punish Cloud for his options. His air speed imo is too great and allows for some follow ups plus crazy recovery options. In case you didn't know on certain characters Clouds D-throw can true combo into Limit side-b at kill %'s if they mess up DI. The air mobility allows him to recover horizontally from every side blast zone in the game as long as he has his double jump. To me that's a bit much.

Diddy Kong ~ The "confirm" character. This character remained untouched since the hoo-hah nerf about a year ago, however he still has way too many "unbalanced" tools tbh. He has ~3 kill confirms across the cast consisting of D-tilt, U-throw, and Banana -> combo. While i'm personally OK with Banana into grabs or smash attack combos i'm not ok with Banana doing damage and leading into a CHARGED smash attack. That's obnoxious if you ask me. Banana is literally the SAFEST tool in neutral in the entire game with crazy crazy amounts of High Reward. D-tilt into up-smash is also very silly. A very quick and low endlag move combos 90% of the game into a kill or grab. However I'd only make d-tilt scale and not entirely ruin the tool. I think it's fair to have d-tilt into a combo just not past ~70% Finally hoo-hah does exist on fast fallers like Sheik / Zss / Fox to the point where its 100% true or a 50/50. I strongly disapprove of characters with amazing neutrals having kill combo throws. See Pre-patch Sheik / Hoo-hah Diddy / Luigi. I'd just make his throws scale. Finally his F-air / Roll are amazing. I'd keep the roll data the same but that Fair... It's probably a Top 3 Fair in the game. Just tone down the range slightly so it's not super spammable / safe. Remove intangible foot on flipkick.

Sheik ~ This one will be quick since I do think she's a very hard character to win with now requiring amazing skill / precision. Nerf Bouncing Fish knockback or damage. Nerf how long N-air stays out since that move is a combo tool and lasts forever. BUFF her up-air and d-air. D-air can have less lag so she has a random but not entirely reliable tool to Land and increase the dmg + knockback of up-air in order to give her a move that can kill.

Rosalina ~ Only things about ROSA I would probably change is her air dodge / roll data. They're simply amazing. Maybe increase the window to punish them by 2~3 frames.
LUMA!!! okay... this is where big fixes need to occur. For one I don't think Luma should have over 35 Health. The character design is basically kill Luma and take damage back. By the time you kill a good Rosa player / Luma you've already taken more than 40% damage back while the actual Rosa player has taken less than that. I don't approve of Luma scaling with Rage or even having such insane knockback power. It's ridiculous considering she's arguably the BEST defensive character in the game and has what I would consider a "toxic" neutral. The biggest thing I stress is Luma should only be able to ACT when Rosa is OUT of Hitstun. That's just basically rewarding the Rosa player for getting hit when she should not have any reward for making a mistake. Final note, Jab shouldn't kill.

Mario ~ Probably the most controversial meta character right now. I think he's very good overall. But what makes him really good? Two things, The BEST up-smash in the game and amazing grab combos. I really have no idea why any of the Mario Bro's have a super fast, hard to punish and invincible up-smash tbh. I'd keep everything the same on the move except make it punishable. Probably just give his d-throw scaling so he has to work harder along with the rest of the cast to earn %.

Fox ~ Very small changes, Give u-tilt some lag so it's not a spam on shield move and Buff his b-air so he can use it off stage or in the air without having to auto cancel it. Overall balanced considering his inability to recover against a large majority of the cast. Must be played Optimal to even be Top tier. (Hence why we only have a few Top players with him currently)

Zss ~ Nerf how active flip-kick is and how active d-smash is. Buff B-air hitboxes so it literally doesn't go thru people (she can miss super up close) Buff Jab 1 so it hits short characters like diddy / Pika / olimar. Finally buff / fix grab so it receives something similar to the lucas treatment but not as lagless just comes out quicker.

Bayonetta ~ Just lower the knockback on b-air. I think she's overall in a respectable place right now. Not too overpowering and definitely not too weak.

Ryu ~ If he's going to be the most combo based character in the game and have true combo's out of a frame 2 option into TSK then at least lower the knockback of TSK and maybe lower dmg output from b-air / f-air. Overall OK currently

Sonic ~ Honestly this character is a mess to balance. You can't make him bad without literally destroying him nor make him good without making him annoying to fight against. The solution in my eyes is to change how his side-b works overall. Make it so u can't shield cancel it. This eliminates the camping aspect of the character and forcing a commitment. However because he wouldn't be as camp based and more aggro to compensate give him moves that connect properly. (his multi hits don't connect often) Increase the damage output of Fair / u-air and U-tilt. Oh and please fix Spindash bug, it's sad watching people SD without control. Fix up-smash so characters don't fall out.

Pikachu ~ He's very lagless and safe with many options. Give the character some risk and reward options while keeping his combo game. As it stands right now he doesn't have too many options that can be punished optimally. Maybe consider decreasing his weight value to that of GnW (75)

Villager ~ Overall fair character without too many crazy traits. Lower his overall weight and make F-smash a little less stronger / more end lag.

Ness ~ Pretty OK character, I would only decrease the size of N-air and reduce the knockback of u-air. He has many risk reward situations that can cost a stock.

Meta Knight ~ Very hard to balance kinda like sonic. If you remove his combos from u-air the character is really weakened however giving him more combos out of anything would most likely just result in u-air into up-b combos. One solution I could see is changing the entire angle of shuttle loop. Instead of looping in a circle make it loop in an oval while sending the opponent up and to the corner. Kind of like Zss boost kick currently. That way 0-deaths are less common and he still has his follow up strings. Buff the damage output from f-air / b-air and give his side-b more damage as well.

Corrin ~ Overall balanced. Very linear play, maybe nerf neutral b Stun duration from a fully charged shot and decrease tipper knockback on moves. Buff grab game so she/he has low % combos.

C.Falcon ~ Overall ok. Buff Side-b so it actually swings when it should / properly. The random whiffs are silly. Also buff multi jab so it works more frequently.

Toon Link ~ Give the character grab combos at low% so he has a reason to use that move other than mixups / back-throw. Decrease knockback from f-air / B-air but increase dmg output from bombs slightly. Annoying but fair character imo.

Yoshi ~ Remove from Game (inside joke with a few yoshi mains). JK anyway, give his f-air some more endlag after usage even when hitting the ground. Possibly buff f-tilt so it's slightly more viable. Decrease knockback on f-smash / d-smash.

Greninja ~ increase the speed that n-air comes out. Buff knockback of b-air. Increase speed of shadow sneak.

Pit / Dark Pit ~ Most balanced character in game imo, wouldn't buff or nerf.

Luigi ~ Give back his Jab into Up-B combo tbh. Decrease the knockback of N-air and Help this poor mans traction lmao. Decrease nado multi hit spike so characters don't get gimped at 0.

Mewtwo ~ Oh my how you've become bad, to ok, to strong. Real talk I'm happy you're a character now in the meta but why do you basically have true combos until kill%s... I'm not a fan of this at all :/ Anyhoo. Decrease knockback of u-throw / B-throw and increase dmg from f-throw + d-throw. 100% increase the punish window if his air dodge as he has THE BEST one in the game and its obnoxious. Also Shadowball doing 26% fully charged? I'm not ok with a charged projectile doing that much on a character who is super combo heavy. Oh and that n-air needs some endlag.

Rob ~ A campy projectile based heavy who has a grab combo into a 50/50? Nah that's very toxic tbh. Nerf d-throw so it scales and decrease the knockback from u-air. Give n-air some endlag and buff b-air / jab.

Ike ~ Overall good just the meta is much stronger than him.

Peach ~ F-air needs to not hit like a truck. Buff dash-attack so it always connects and increase dmg from u-tilt / f-tilt

Lucario ~ I personally think Aura-sphere into up-smash is a silly thing so I would remove that combo however he needs something to compensate so give him more combos at the low-mid %s

DK ~ Why are your hands intangible??? remove that. Reduce dmg from u-air. Overall ok character.

Wario ~ Give him more combos at low%, Overall ok character just not popular choice among players.

Marth ~ Nerf tipper knockback scaling. Can kill way too early sometimes. Increase knockback of sourspots and give him combos out of f-throw / b-throw at lower %s. Fix Dancing Blade to connect on more characters in the cast.

Lucina ~ Decrease knockback on smash attacks. Apply F-throw / B-throw buffs to her too.

Lucas ~ He's overall fine

Pacman ~ Give this CHARACTER A GRAB ALREADY. Decrease N-air knockback. Give combos out of throws. Lowkey a good character just slept on.

Olimar ~ I hate this thing, burn it. Remove it, entire design is horrible for the game.

ALPH ~ Decrease pikmin hitstun lag when latched, give grab more end lag. Buff Non-pikmin based moves dmg.

Robin ~ Increase ground speed / mobility. Overall strong character. Remove being put into tumble after fully charged neutral B.

Wii Fit trainer ~ Overall unique and ok character.

Kirby ~ Character is very rewarded for not playing the game via ducking. Make throw combos stop at lower %'s.

Megaman ~ Fix up-smash so character don't fall out. Lower lag on b-air / F-air + more dmg output.

GnW ~ Overall okay just awkward options. (See Mexico region for good GnW players)

Samus ~ Allow charge shot to be B-Reversed. Give grab follow up's at low %'s Buff U-air knockback. Increase roll speed animation so she can act quicker.

Bowser ~ I think hes ok so far.

Falco ~ OK just underrated.

Link ~ Give bomb follow ups like TL.

Roy ~ Buff his dancing blade final hit knockback. Increase length of up-b for recovery purposes.

Dr. Mario ~ Give more follow ups out of throws in order to compensate for very poor recovery.

Little Mac ~ Increase speed of side-b. Allow up-b to snap ledge without finishing animation + snap backwards. Decrease up-b knockback.

Bowser JR ~ Increase neutral b projectile Speed. Always regain clown cart out of up-b to prevent easy gimps. Give grab follow ups at low %'s

Shulk ~ Allow sword to come out faster on all moves.

Charizard ~ Reduce Flare Blitz horizontal range to prevent suicides and allow for edge guarding tool. Increase b-air damage.

Duck Hunt ~ Fix every multi hit move so they connect (U-air, f-smash u-smash etc)

Palutena ~ Decrease U-air knockback. Buff counter so it's actually viable. Buff neutral-special so it comes out faster.

King D3 ~ Give the character combos aside from landing with n-air. Decrease knockback of smashes and allow smashes to come faster as compensation. Gordos deal less knockback for follow up potential.

Zelda ~ Give OOS options like jab / f-tilt. Remove going into free fall after using side-b. Give air mobility after using Up-B / let it grab ledge when facing backwards. Increase sour spot dmg on f-air / b-air.

Ganondorf ~ I honestly think he's ok minus the fact he he's one of the few heavies without grab combos.

Jigglypuff ~ Decrease endlag after using rest upon SUCCESSFUL hit. Give her better ground speed.

Mii's... ~ ........ If you're for them GOOD. If you're against them GOOD.
