Taokaka BBCF Thoughts:

Intro:

Sup. I recently got the chance to play BBCF and decided to write a brief thing on my thoughts for Tao. I also played Nine a bit but to be honest I was awful at her and can't really offer anything you can't learn by watching a video. But since Tao is a bit (a lot) more rare I decided that a write-up might actually be nice for people who were wondering about the character. Warning: I only played the game for about 2 hours and didn't get to test anywhere near as much as I would have liked, so take everything here as loose impressions and not fact.

The Nerfs:

Alright lets get this part out of the way. Yes, Tao got nerfs. The fuzzy isn't gone, but it isn't stupid anymore. Get over it. It was dumb. The more important things to talk about are the other nerfs to Tao.

2B recovery increase - Substantial nerf. Remember how it felt after 6C got the recovery nerf? Similar to that. Luckily it's a bit easier to force the opponent to block this compared to 6C.

5B -> 2B gattling removed - Irrelevant. 5B->5A is still in and it feels like 5A is a bit more reliable vs crouchers but I didn't test the hitbox that much. 2B->5B is the good string.

j.4D angle change - Really bizarre. Don't really know why this changed (suspecting combo filler reasons), but I'm not really sure how to use the new one in neutral (then again I rarely used the old one in neutral).

The Changes:

j.B - Not as good as I thought it would be, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Being able to cancel this from j.2B is great (for reasons that will be explained shortly). It's really fast, both startup and recovery. It's as mashable speed wise as Azrael j.B (maybe slightly more).

j.C - GOD NORMAL. This move is actually amazing. The move reminded me of Ragna j.C from BBCSEX (but I can't be sure of actual hitbox unless we get data). This move combined with Tao's low jump height is insanely good. You're an anti-air baiting god. Can maybe force respect and get them to block j.2B instead (which is great because of the cancels). Really, really good move. Oh and it can beat Azrael 5A thank the LORD.

Health buff - Noticeable? I mean, it's 500 heath so that's situationally one more chance to eat a mixup.

OD / EA / AF - Didn't mess with.

Combos / Damage - Damage got buffed. Average damage seems 400-500 higher than CPEX. Plus you get good KD off of everything in the corner, and your confirms midscreen seem pretty good. Combo length is also significantly higher; 2A corner combos are like 20 hits (10-15 seconds?). Lots of lame out potential with this new version of Tao.

Summary of thoughts:

Honestly since everyone was dropping the character in JP I went in with zero expectations but came out pleasantly surprised? Not really sure how she's supposed to fight Izayoi and I suspect she's going to have trouble with Nine and Kokonoe but hey more time will answer these.
