Tonight, the moment that I have been waiting for for over 20 years is finally here. Tonight, I fight at WrestleMania for the first time.
When I was 11, my father rented a VHS tape of WrestleMania 11. I watched it with him, from beginning to end, completely mesmerized by what was happening in front of me...
At the end of the show, I told my parents that that's what I wanted...that's what I HAD to do in life. And my parents could have reacted negatively but instead, they immediately cultivated my interest and supported my dream. They bought me all the shows on PPV, they took me to all the shows at the Bell Centre, they paid for my training, they did everything for me.
Without them, without their support and love, I would never have made it to where I am today.
Mom, Dad, I thank my lucky star every day for having had the chance to be born to parents as incredible as you. Thank you for everything. I love you so much! Tonight is for you...
And then, there's my beautiful, incredible wife...What can I say about her? She is absolutely amazing. She has supported this insane dream of mine for 10 years now and it's never been easy on her. After she gave birth to our amazing little guy Owen, I was working a warehouse job 5 days a week on top of going away to wrestle on the independent scene in the weekends and still couldn't make ends meet. The lowest point came when we had our heating shut off because we just didn't have money to pay it...yet not once did she ask me to quit. Not once did she ask me to rethink my choice of career and find something more stable and safe. Not once did she make me feel bad for holding on to a dream that really made no sense at the time. Instead, she motivated me, loved me, told me I'd make it when plenty of people said otherwise. She took care of our kids while I traveled the world just looking for the opportunity I needed.
Once that opportunity came, she dropped everything and moved to a different country for me, away from her family and friends, just so she and my kids could be there with me...
Honey, there is absolutely no way tonight would be happening for me without your love and support. When I met you, my whole life changed and you gave a new meaning to everything in it. And tonight wouldn't mean anything if you weren't here to share the moment with me. Thank you for being with me. Thank you for being you. I can't imagine my life without you. I love you with everything I have! Tonight is for you...
And last but not least...Owen, Élodie...I know daddy is gone a lot but when I'm not home, I am constantly thinking about you, my two little monsters. You guys gave me a purpose and now, as much as this has always been a dream for me, everything I do is so that I can give you guys the future you both deserve. Thanks for keeping daddy going when things get rough, and more than anything, thanks for being the two most adorable, absolutely hilarious little guys in the world. I love you more than anything...Tonight is for you...
Alright...now, time to get to work...time to kick some ass...
