THE DUCK PRINCE - script
[fade in on a clear sky above some treetops. pan down to follow two teenagers (SHELBY and ALEX) walking along a wooded path.]
ALEX: Look, I'm just saying, just because it's in a cartoon doesn't mean you can rule it out!
[cut to a medium shot of SHELBY as she laughs.]
SHELBY: You don't actually think you could just find a frog somewhere and kiss it and it would magically turn in to a prince, do you?
[cut to ALEX.]
ALEX: Well why not? It could happen!
[cut to a shot of their feet as they walk along the path.]
ALEX: It wouldn't have to be just frogs, either. Who's to say there couldn't be a prince hidden in every animal? How would you know unless you tried?
[they pass a duck. it quacks, and they stop.]
[OTS shot of the duck behind ALEX. they turn and looks down at it.]
[slow zoom in on the duck. slow zoom in on ALEX. repeat X2.]
[far shot. ALEX excitedly bounds towards the duck and picks it up, laughing.]
[medium shot. ALEX twirls around with the duck in their hands.]
ALEX: Like this duck! I bet he'd make a super handsome prince. What do you think, Shelby?
[2 shot; ALEX in the FG, their head just out of the frame. in the BG, SHELBY looks concerned.]
SHELBY: Uh, Alex, I don't think you should...
[medium shot. ALEX holds the duck up in front of them.]
ALEX: Oh, don't be such a spoil-sport!
[ALEX pulls the duck towards them and smooches it on the beak.]
[close up on SHELBY. slow zoom in, the screen flashes random colors and she looks horrified. flashing/zoom abruptly stops and she looks down.]
[on the ground next to the duck is a second duck.]
[far shot of SHELBY standing next to the ducks. she sighs. fade out.]
[fade in to a far shot of a beautiful sunset on a lake. SHELBY is on a bench tossing bread into the water.]
[close up on the water as a piece of bread lands. a duck swims by and snatches it up.]
[view from behind of SHELBY on the bench, the sunset in front of her.]
SHELBY: They're happier like this.
