This may seem like a long shot, but as a dedicated student of modern political affairs I am extremely confident in the following predictions about how the process for replacing Justice Scalia will unfold:

Obama resigns. President Biden nominates Obama (a former constitutional law professor) to the Supreme Court and appoints Hillary Clinton as vice president. Vice President Clinton, in her constitutional role as president of the Senate, declares filibusters of judicial nominations unconstitutional. Obama is seated with the support of a handful of precariously-seated Republicans and wears the black robe for 30+ years. As the incumbent vice president, Clinton wins both the nomination and general election handily. At a joint press conference, she and Donald Trump laughingly reveal that his entire candidacy was a prank they and Roger Ailes came up with during an absinthe-fueled Tony Awards afterparty in the conversation pit at Rupert Murdoch's penthouse in 2011. Halfway through her second term, cancer is cured and every shelter animal finds a loving home.
