In 2014, 370 years have passed since the publication of Evangelista Torricelli’s Opera Geometrica (1644, Massa & de Landis, Florentiae). The proposed collection book would be a collection of unpublished, original historical-philosophical scientific articles on the relationship among proofs, mechanics, mathematics, physics and geometry strictly relating to the Opera Geometrica's scientific content. This anthology should also encourage the much-needed reinterpretation of the entire Opera Geometrica. While the core theme remains the theories and HPS/epistemological studies connected with the content of the Opera Geometrica, the book will contain chapters on other appropriate aspects in any rounded history of the subject. A blinded peer-review process will be undertaken for each submission. Therefore, academics from different scientific and historical philosophical horizons are welcome to discuss emerging thoughts in methodological and in theoretical perspectives aiming to gather and re-evaluate the current thinking on this subject. The volume’s composition would make absorbing reading for historians, philosophers and scientists (particularly mathematicians, physicists and engineers).
