So, thoughts on TGC:

Pros: There was 44 setups for smash 4 alone, FOURTY FOUR, I had no problem finding open setups the whole day, and I certainly played the whoooooole day. there was smash 4 singles, doubles, and I THINK melee singles + doubles. Doubles tournament started at 12pm, singles at 2pm, all signups were done on the spot, meaning bracket was made on the spot as well. With 80 teams and 235 singles entrants, WITH A 3 STOCK 7 MINUTE RULESET (Which BTW, I actually liked @_@ near the top 8 though when players play more safe, matches did something drag on though) AND POOLS WHERE EVERYONE THAT GOES INTO LOSERS IS RESEEDED BACK INTO WINNERS, everything was finished by midnight. That's really, really, really, really impressive. I would expect this kind of event to be 2 day. Also, everything was started ON TIME (that just doesn't happen...ever) The venue itself was great too, it was a very clean venue as a part of some bigger corporate building I think? There was a lot of good food places in walking distance so I didn't have to settle for fast food or take a long trip to get anything. Multiple bathrooms (this is in fact a huuuuge blessing omg). There was 2 rooms for smash, so even though one room couldn't hold everyone, when everyone split up into multiple rooms, it was tolerable (still a bit packed but not more than the average big event). A lot of chairs (one of the most common complaints I have at a lot of venues is not enough chairs). A bracket on a monitor for everyone to see at the front of the room so you could check that instead of crowding around TOs asking "who do I fight next?" >.>

There was of course some cons, for me the biggest one was definitely not having a stream, I talked to Xyro about this and hopefully he can find a great venue with internet quality capable of holding a stream, but luckily all the matches that would be on stream were recorded with commentary and will be uploaded to youtube. The other con I had was how people who lost in bracket pools were reseeded into winners, it didn't affect the tournament much I believe, but I talked to a few players who don't feel it's fair to get through winners and be out when double eliminated, yet players who got through pools in losers essentially get triple eliminated. It also could of almost changed everything because I fought Zenyou round 2 of winners due to him losing in pools and getting a bad seed as a result. Another con was I guess almost unavoidable in a way, due to the amount of doubles teams signing up, Xyro had to STOP taking doubles signups otherwise he didn't think it would finish in time. (Singles was not capped however)

My personal experience essentially boiled down to enjoying how friendly everyone was (I housed with 2 different people, got driven by 3 different players, met a lot of cool people, ect) and how I was able to fiend ultra hard. (Anyone who knows me knows that's 95% what I care about at tourneys, especially when there are good players/ I probably won't even attend something if there's no challenging competition.) I basically went from my plane directly to a smashfest with Trela, Ryo, and some others Friday night on a stream.

PLANE ABOUT TO LAND SO GOTTA PUT AWAY MY LAPTOP TL;DR TOURNAMENT WAS RUN A LOT BETTER THAN THE AVERAGE EVENTS WITH NOT MUCH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT + I GOT TO PLAY WITH A LOT OF GOOD PEOPLE/ LEARNED A LOT AND IF TEXAS HOLDS MORE BIG TOURNAMENTS THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE I WILL GO BACK TO THEM!
