How to Borrow a Book from the NEMRT Instructors Library

Every so often, I am surprised when I tell a local police manager that I’m the librarian at North East Multi-Regional Training, and the chief or lieutenant exclaims, “Oh! I didn’t know NEMRT had a library!”

Well, we do. We have videos suitable for roll call and other types of police training, as well as books, reports, audiobooks, journals and magazines. In fact, if you would like to see some of our newest acquisitions, they are listed in our New Titles list. We also have a number of other booklists to highlight the variety of materials the NEMRT Instructors Library has available:

We loan materials directly to Chicago-area police officers and criminal justice instructors, and indirectly (through interlibrary loan) to others interested in law enforcement.

If you would like to borrow books that Worldcat.org says we own, just go to your public or academic library, and ask the librarian to request them through interlibrary loan. If the materials have not already been checked out, we’ll be glad to provide them.

If you are a local police officer or an academic criminal justice instructor, we can loan items directly. Just call or email the NEMRT library with your request,. Again, if the material is available, we’ll be glad to provide them. We can mail them directly to your agency or institution.

The items will come with a due date. Just make sure the items are returned to the NEMRT Library by that date – or make arrangements with the library for an extension. It’s that simple.

If you would like to request some books, or have any questions, just contact the library at 630-896-8860 x108, or sarah@nemrt.com . We’ll look forward to hearing from you!

If you’re an officer in the area, you can also come in and browse. Call the librarian first, to schedule an appointment. We’ll look forward to seeing you!
