The folks behind your (hopefully) favorite sports media blog are launching a new site! We want you to be a part of it.

Over the past five years, we've been encouraged by the growth and evolution of Awful Announcing. While we've enjoyed the challenge of covering the sports media world from a unique, reasonable and professional perspective, the team behind Awful Announcing thinks the time is right to apply that style and voice to a new general sports site.

This new site is definitely not going to try to save sports writing, and we'll do our best to try not be unnecessarily cynical in covering both sports and pop culture, but we feel that part of the reason why AA has been successful is because it's stayed true to that original vision to be an alternative voice and serve the readers. It's our goal for this new site to do the same for general sports as what Awful Announcing has done for sports media.

We're looking to add writers who feel their voice would fit well with this vision. We already have a great staff in place, and are looking for talented writers that cover all sports and pop culture (from news coverage to features and everything in between) to join us.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, please email us at awfulannouncing@gmail.com with your info and recent links to writing samples. These are paying gigs, and we are looking for talented candidates with all levels of experience.

We look forward to sharing more about this new site in the coming weeks and appreciate your ongoing support of Awful Announcing.
