To the WorldCon - An Invalidated Ballot

I am given to understand that certain nominees were given "asterisk awards" during the Hugo process.

I cannot find any such allowances under the Constitution which regulates the operations of the World Science Fiction Society, inclusive of all Hugo-specific rules stated therein (http://www.wsfs.org/bm/const-2014.html). Nor did there appear to be authority, outside of the Mark Committee, for the creation of any such awards to represent the WSFS or WorldCon in any way.

It has been made abundantly clear, however, that marking an award with an asterisk serves only the purpose of claiming it is invalid.

Being as that some of the nominees were, therefore, not treated as nominees regardless of having been placed on the ballot as such in accordance with the rules, it appears that the ConCom has managed to spike the nomination process by introducing awards which are illegal --- both according to the rules on Mark Protection and the rules for the Nomination and verification processes. It is my understanding that both of these latter were carried out and confirmed, prior to decision to create falsified awards.

Such a stain upon the nomination process itself stains the voting process in turn. It is my belief that the actions of your Convention Committee (or whomever thought this was a good idea) has invalidated my vote and the votes of all those who actually supported a nominee regardless of category.

I therefore require a refund of my Supporting Membership and a formally-struck copy of my ballot.

Thank you.
