20歳の女性。連合国（国連）ジュネーブで、戦後70年談話を出した。

安倍談話は政治のレベルで、妥協とバランスのメッセージになるだろが、一方、政治とは別の次元で、７月28日に連合国（国連）ジュネーブ事務所で水田安美（あみ）さんが以下のスピーチを行った。
水田さんは女子差別撤廃委員会にNGOのメンバーとして参加、杉田水脈（みお）前衆議院議員（次世代）や山本優美子さん（なでいこアクション）も同行していた。

《水田安美 国連スピーチ全文（日本語版）》
今日、私は日本の若者を代表してここへ来ました。
私が伝えたいのは、日本は素晴らしい国だから、自虐史観に終止符を打ちたいこと、
そして皆さんと共に地球規模で幸せを実現するために力を合わせていきたいということを
伝えるために日本からやってきました。

今から日本の素晴らしさを皆さんに伝えます。

まずは、日本の国旗です。　
このように一見、シンプルな白色の真ん中に赤い丸という国旗です。
この赤い丸は「太陽」だと言われており、日本の信仰の象徴でもあります。
それは、「太陽信仰」といって、天照大神という存在が国家の神として認められて、
日本全体がそれを承認し、今の日本にある皇室制度が成り立っています。
それは「百二十五代」続いています。
その間、途切れずに続いており、系図もはっきり遺っています。
そしてその史実は、少なくとも二千年近い歴史があることは、ほぼ確実です。
「統一王朝として、二千数百年存在する」ということを考えると、
これだけ連綿と続いた国家があるのはすごいことです。
「世界史のなかの奇跡」と言っている人もいます。私もそう思います。

もう一つは、日本の神話です。古事記や日本書紀など日本人が古くから
大切にしている伝統や書物があります。
そのなかに描かれている象徴的なものから「生き方」を学べます。
嘘をついてはいけない、勤勉に生きる、人に優しくするなどといったことが
今ではおじいちゃんやおばあちゃんの口から二千年も語り継がれているのです。
なので、東日本大震災などの大きな災害があっても、お互い譲り合って
一列に綺麗に並び、そして助け合い、復興に向けて努力することができるのです。

このように、日本には「統一王朝や日本の神話が二千数百年の長きに渡って
現在まで大切にされてきたこと」ということは、本当に素晴らしいことで、
これは「世界遺産に匹敵する」ことくらいすごいことだと私は思います。

そして最後に、アジアの植民地解放、アジアやアフリカ諸国の独立に貢献したということです。
第二次世界大戦の敗戦後、天皇陛下の一言で日本人は一斉に武器を捨てました。
そして、その後も日本に帰らず、戦いの現地に残ってその国の独立のために
武器の使い方を教え、共に戦った日本人が多くいます。

何故だと思いますか？

それは、他国を侵略したいと思ってないからです。
先ほども述べた日本人の考え方のなかに「困っている人がいたら助けたい」
という、思いがあるからです。それがよくわかる「インパール作戦」を例に挙げます。
日本ではインパール作戦というと、一番残酷で失敗の作戦だったと習います。
ですが、インドではこのように言われています。
インド国軍５０周年記念で現地の方がこう言われたと、
実際その場所に行かれた日本の人に聞きました。
「インパール作戦であれほど日本軍が自分たちの犠牲を払って
戦ってくれたから今この日を迎えられます。そのことに感謝、尊敬しています」
当時の日本人は同じアジア民族としてある民族だけが、肌の色が違うだけで
虐待されるのが許せず、黙って見てられなかったのです。
それは、日本の上の人だけではなく、日本国民が皆そう思っていました。
そうした、神様が見られる視点・地球的正義感を日本人は持っていました。
そしてそのアジア独立に感化されたアフリカも独立への動きに変わっていきました。
そんな日本をインドも、アジア諸国の人も尊敬しています。
以前、マレーシアに行ったとき、現地の人に手を握られ、涙を流しながら
「アリガトウ、アリガトウ」と言われたことを今でも覚えています。
私はそれがすべてだと思います。私は日本に生まれたことを誇りに思います。

なので、日本という国はもっと自信を持ってもいいのです。
この国自体が「世界の誇り」であり、「世界遺産そのもの」そう思っていいはずであります。
これを知るだけでもこの素晴らしい日本に生まれた日本人が
「自虐史観」で、自分の国が嫌いという考え方を
変えなければならないということがはっきり分かってくるはずです。
他にも数えきれないくらい、日本の素晴らしいところがたくさんあります。

今、日本は誇りと自信を失いかけています。
なぜなら日本は悪い国だと他の国に言われ、
また学校の先生にそう教えられているからです。
私自身も、おばあちゃんから教えてもらっていた日本の歴史と
学校から教わった歴史があまりにも違っていたことから歴史の勉強をはじめました。
そして自信を無くした子供たちは、いじめや犯罪に走ります。
私自身も、学生時代いじめられた経験があります。
日本にはあまりにも自分のことが嫌いな子供が多すぎます。
しかし、日本には素晴らしい文化や思想、伝統がたくさんあります。
日本国内でその声を挙げても小さな声にしかなりません。
なので、皆さん一人ひとりが自分の国を愛するように日本のことも愛してください。
幸福を祈ってください。その思いが、日本の子供たちの命を救います。
日本の人々の勇気になります。力になります。誇りと自信に繋がります。
もう、日本の自分の国が嫌いという考え方「自虐史観」に
この戦後７０周年の今、終止符を打ちたいのです。

日本が再び誇りと自信を取り戻すことはもちろん、
日本だけではなく世界各国がそれぞれの国で誇りと自信を持ち、
地球規模で幸福と平和と安らぎが実現する未来を私は本気で祈っています。
このスピーチが世界の幸福の一助になることを願います。

【英語版】 《Ami Mizuta speech（English）》
Today, I am here on behalf of younger Japanese with a message to convey to all of you. What I’d like to tell you is my wish to put an end to our masochistic view of history because I believe that Japan is such a marvelous country, and hope to make happy life happen on the global basis by cooperating with each other.

Now, I tell you how marvelous Japan is:

At first, about the national flag of Japan.
Our national flag has a seemingly simple design consisting of a red disk on a white background like this. This red disk represents “the Sun” and is also a symbol of religious belief of general Japanese. “Amaterasu Ohmikami” has been broadly accepted as the Japanese Goddess of the Sun, who is the earliest ancestor of the current Imperial Household. It has continued over 125 generations with no interruption, whose definitive genealogical chart remains. It is highly probable that the Imperial Household has a history of at least 2000 years. Taking this fact that a single royal dynasty has continued for over 2000 and a few hundred of years into consideration , it is nothing short of brilliant that a nation has been existing continu ously for such a long period. Some people say, “It is a miracle in the world history.” I think so, too.

Another thing I’d like you to know about is Japanese myths. We have a few books such as “Kojiki,” a Record of Ancient Matters, and “Nihonshoki,” Chronicles of Japan, describing traditional stories that have been cherished through the ages. We can learn important “ways of living” from symbolic stories in those books. Lessons such as “Don’t tell a lie,” “Live diligently and faithfully,” and “Be kind to the others,” etc. have been transmitted by words of mouth; for example, from grandparents to children for more than 2000 years. Therefore, as you may know, even in the case of great disasters like the Great East Japan Earthquake 4 years ago, people are able to stand in line without falling over one another to get aid supplies and to strive for recovery and reconstruction by helping each other out.

As such, it is really fantastic that these single dynasty and myths have been loved by the people for more than 2000 years in Japan. I believe that this may be quite a wonderful fact and an equally important cantribution to world heritages.

Lastly but not least, I’d like to convey that Japan made great contribution to the colonial liberation in Asia and the independence of Asian and African nations. After the end of the World War II, we Japanese abandoned our weapons with one accord. There were many Japanese who remained in the ex-battle fields instead of coming back to Japan and willfully fought with the local people for the independence of their countries.

Guess why?

Because they didn’t want to invade the other countries as the Japanese have a mindset of helping people in need. I take “the Mission of Imphal” as an example. In Japan, we are taught that the Imphal Mission was the cruelest one with lots of failure. However, I heard that in India it is considered differently. This is a true story I heard from a Japanese person who visited India on the 50th anniversary of the armed forces of India. Then one local person said to him, “We can have this day precisely because many Japanese sacrificed their lives in the Mission of Imphal. We really thank Japan for that and respect Japanese.”

Japanese people those days could not sit idly by nor permit that people who lived in the same area as Asia were aggrieved only due to the difference of skin color. Not only upper staff members of Japan but all the Japanese at that time felt so. Japanese people had such a global sense of justice from the point of God’s view. And being influenced by the independence of India, African people began to move forward to obtain their independence. The people in India and the other Asian countries have respect for Japan. I remember that a local person held my hand and repeated “thank you” with tears when I visited Malaysia before. I believe that episode symbolizes everything. I’m really proud that I was born in Japan.

So, I think that Japan should have more confidence as a country. We may consider that the country of Japan herself is a “pride of the world” or a “World Heritage.”

Knowing these episodes are supposed to show that Japanese people themselves should change their negative feelings about the mother country, based on the masochistic view of history, since we were born in such a marvelous country, Japan.
Japan has too numerous virtues to count in addition to the above.

Today, we Japanese are close to losing our confidence and pride. For, we have been told by the other countries that Japan has done wrong, and also been taught so by school teachers. I started to closely study history since the Japanese history I was taught at school was so much different from what was learned from my grandma.
Children who lost self-confidence are likely to turn to bullying or delinquency. I have experienced bullying in school days, too. There are too many children who cannot love themselves. Yet, in Japan we have a wonderful culture and thoughts and traditions. Even when I raise my voice to enlighten the public, my voice is just too small.

So, each one of you attending here today, please love Japan as you do your country, and pray for happiness for us. Your thought will help to save lives of Japanese children, encourage Japanese people and bless us all. That leads to self-respect and confidence. Now, I wish to put an end to“the masochistic view of history,” that is, hating to ourselves, on this milestone of the post-war 70th -year anniversary.

With a serious mind, I wish for the future world that not only Japanese but also everyone in each country cherish self-respect and confidence, which will bring happiness, peace and a sense of well-being on a global basis.

I hope this speech of mine will contribute to the world happiness.
