Quest-verse: Elenlossë's Thoughts.

Elenlossë, Lady of Himring, turned as her foster father's ship drew far enough away as to make seeing it's crew difficult, and walked along the ramparts of Himring Keep with a small smile flitting across her lips.

Truly, the islands of the north mostly managed themselves and her part was relatively minor where internal matters were concerned, but in that was the matter - internal matters. She trusted her people to be able to manage themselves and work together, but as far as their relationships with outsiders... that was a different issue, that was where she had more involvement.

South of the Searider territory on the mainland was the Forelindon communities who were beholden to the Grey Havens. When Gil-Galad was still living the relations had been... well perhaps not ideal but a coolly cordial contact enforced by the Ñoldor king's will to keep the peace. That had grown far more frosty under Círdan's leadership though, not in the least because the ancient shipwright felt that the Seariders in general and Egandír in particular had done wrong in their association with the Sons of Fëanor.

Relations with Imladris was far better, with Elrond's consideration of Cáno in particular as a father figure, not to mention his two uncles remaining at Cáno's side. It engendered a quiet but close friendship with the Hidden Valley that despite other groups not approving had never been broken. One of the major sources of that disapproval came from Lothlórien, particularly Galadriel, who acted as though Elenlossë was somehow betraying Lossanárë by accepting Cáno back and eventually wedding him.

Elenlossë had refused to believe it, she had held on to belief that Lossanárë would still want her to finally have the love she had lived in hope of, that Lossanárë would still hope she would finally have what she herself had with Maferath.

But now she knew, now all her stubborn belief had paid off - she was right, Lossanárë had been gleefully glad that she had stood firm and had Cáno as her own. If anything, Elenlossë was glad now of Anora's guiding friendship and how the woman who had been her mother in Thedas had helped her developed the strength and not be cowed by others.

Oh to have her sisters back though, Lossanárë the least expected of the two. In truth, she had quiet hopes of Elennárë eventually returning somehow - Elennárë's own vision of reuniting with Kélan had to mean she would eventually find her way to the surface, but with Lossanárë having been carried to Valinor and the new star that had light that could only come from a Silmaril... She and Elennárë had been in Eonwë's care when the falling star had lit up the skies and the two of them had not directly seen it. Perhaps if they had, they might have guessed it was Losá's light... but that was past now.

She walked into a side courtyard, one of the training grounds and idly wondered where her sisters were currently. Elenlossë felt an inclination to challenge them to a spar. Elenaria had not truly had to push very much for Alistair and Anora to agree that the Twin Princesses needed to learn to defend themselves. At least part of it was to cover Lossanárë's fighting knowledge, but for Elenlossë it was a new thing. After she had been given her Elven form by Lord Ulmo, she had started training again - though Cáno was her knight and defender, knowing that if an enemy ever got past even him she would be able to hold them off was a thing of value.

Her own skills went more towards fighting daggers than the longswords her sisters favoured, a choice that came from a thought that as a princess and later queen of Ferelden she would be in gowns. Daggers and knives could be hidden in the skirts she was expected to wear.

Kizár and Lossanárë were progressing in their fighting skills though, while they had a fair way to go, Elenlossë thought they would now be able to hold their own against a good deal of folk, even against a number of Elves.

She knew Kizár would be heading east again, and she got a strong feeling her fiery sister would be off on adventures quite a bit in the coming years. She did hope she would be heading inland with enough practice under her belt, Elenlossë did not want to be in a situation where she would have to bring in her people and fight to get her free. Battles were coming, she could feel it - this Age was coming to a head some time and the memories from another life showed how soon that would be - and it would be better if the enemy they would face did not truly see the people of the islands coming.

All the better even if the enemy did not see Elenlossë and her sisters coming and their fire would be able to help beat back the darkness.
