NSCDC arrests five transformer vandals in C’River

The Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps on Monday said it has arrested five suspected transformer vandals in the state from January 2015 till date.

The state Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Benito Eze, who disclosed this in an interview in Calabar, said the arrests were made possible following the deployment of personnel across the state to safe-guard all public infrastructures.

He said, “From January 2015 till date, arrests have been made involving five transformer suspects with some exhibit recovered from them. Some of the exhibits include, PHCN ladder, one bundle of electrical cable, six building rod and an iron pole.

“Part of the mandate of the corps is to curb the activities of vandals of public infrastructure and the command is leaving no stone unturned in achieving this.”

According to him, the command has spread its dragnet across the state, adding that the initiative has yielded positive results.

He said that the suspects were facing trial and would be charged to court appropriately.

“The command is poised to curb the activities of vandals to the barest minimum. These economic saboteurs, especially in the areas of power installation and the oil sector, will be shown the way out of the state,” he assured.

The commandant appealed to the public to always avail the command with timely and useful information that would help them curb illegalities in the state.
