Texas A&M coach Rob Childress to the Chronicle on Texas Southern coach Mike Robertson’s assertion the area around first base had water around it despite no rain today (the Tigers entered with 136 stolen bases): “I can assure there was nothing done on purpose as far as the field goes. We’ve got the best groundskeeper in the nation in Nick McKenna and it’s a level playing field, because we want to make sure everybody has a fair chance in this tournament. We would never do anything like that, and it disappoints me our integrity was questioned.”
