(Forwarded message from a diehard fan of Raja sir).

To the dearest fans of raaja sir.
This is for you to understand what is going on :

The process:
1. Raaja sir composes a song, records it with everyones hard work.
2. Song is shot by the hard work of the director, producer, actors and others.
3. Movie is sold to a distributor who puts hards work towards marketing it.
4. Fans do the hard work of acquiring the composition of Raaja sir. i.e.. following up with then available media etc. They pay for the Cassettes, LP's, CD's and downloads of Raaja sir, be it legal or pirated, they still pay.
5. Radio channels and TV acquire the songs (not the movie) free of charge. They play the songs that the fans love and get paid in return from the sponsors (e.g.: the AD's, jingles, commercials in between the songs and the radio jockey talking). It starts from thousands of rupees a minute to Lakhs in TV's. We can surely say that none if this is done free of charge by the Radio or TV channels.
6. Performers like stage orchestra's and singers sing these songs on stage and get paid from thousands to crores of rupees per concert. FYI - not one singer has ever paid a royalty of even one rupee to Raja sir for singing his song even for 100 times on stage. Not even once!
7. IPRS etc, collect royalties in the name of the composer, lyricist, singers and producers. For one concert the range is 2 Lakhs to ******* for big concerts. Last year the total royalty given to raja sir was Rs. 30,000/- i.e. Rupees thirty thousand only. - Pathetic. Other film composers in India, or lets say just in chennai get royalties in crores just for 2 or 3 movies a year. Raja sir has composed more than 5,000 songs of which a minimum of 70 per cent are hits.
8. Distributors of CD's and online music now sell the songs and make money. Last year alone one distributor sold Raja sir's music for an exchange value of Rs.8 crores value (+ or - a few lakhs) only in one country other than India. The royalty he paid Raja sir was less than 7 Lakhs.

The Passion:

Raja sir's passion after Rudramma Devi is to record more music with symphony orchestras and other Jazz musicians. The recordings cost in crores of Rupees which will include Travel and other costs for studio (e.g. 2,000 pounds for a day in a proper studio) plus the recording engineers, the best ones charging a minimum of 1,000 pounds a day. No producer (except 1 or 2) want to spend that much of money.

Why does Raja sir want to do this? Does he want to record it and hear it for himself alone in his room? NO!
He wants his fans to hear it and cherish it.

The situation:
After all this, the channels refuse to pay Raja sir the royalty he quotes.
The channels have now boycotted playing his songs and it is not the other way around.
Is it wrong for Raja sir, after 40+ years of hard work finally ask for the royalty he's been denied?
Even if one fan had paid one paise every time he heard a Raja sir's song directly to him, Raja sir would have easily been one of the top 10 richest men in the world.
Imagine the years and years all the fans have heard and loved his songs. On Radio, on TV, in cassette, CD's, LP's etc.
Why are only the mediators getting paid? WHY NOT Raja sir?
What the Radio channels said to Raja sir was total nonsense. They said that they're doing a service to his music and fans. THAT's Hilarious. Then let then stop the AD's and commercials in between say "This jewelry, That store, this Drink, that TV".
Are they doing it for free, then Raja sir can let them play his songs for free.
