According to the NFL, the NFLPA four days ago did not object to an extension of time in extending deadline on filing in the appeal of the Adrian Peterson case. in that May 15 filing, the NFL asks the court for more time (court granted it today) to file a brief to argue why the 8th circuit should overturn a lower court's decision siding with Adrian Peterson over the NFL. In the filing, the NFL says the NFLPA had no objection to the extension. Today NFLPA president Eric Winston said the NFLPA had filed a contempt motion in federal court against the NFL for not implementing that lower court decision.
Something doesnt quite add up if NFLPA signed off on the time extension and then four days later calls the league to the carpet (thats assuming the NFLPA did indeed sign off on the time extension). It could be also that the NFLPA doesnt find the two inconguous, that the appeal should not delay the lower court ruling.
The AP case is now one about principal because league has reinstated him. The lower court overturned an arbitrator's decision upholding the NFL suspension of AP. The NFL wants to protect the rights of arbitrators. The NFLPA of course wants to be able to go to court to protect players rights even if that runs counter to an arbitrator decision.
